Re: OVC '09
They couldn't be THAT far since they're all in Ross County, which is right next to Jackson....
But Oak Hill is adjacent to OVC territory (Rock Hill), plus they have a big rivalry with the Redmen. Isn't Blackfork/Washington Township in Lawrence County actually part of the Oak Hill district?

SV and OH will never join the OVC...they are fine where they are at. A better idea would be for the OVC to drop River Valley and the SOC II to drop North West, the 2 leagues could merge into a 10 team super conference with 2 divisions..each team would still need 1 non-conference game....
Each week of the season there could be 1 Saturday "game of the week" pitting an SOC II vs OVC, they could be:
Week 1- Minford-CG
Week 2- Burg-SP
Week 3- Valley-CH
Week 4- West-RH
Week 5- Waverly-F
Week 6- Valley-CG
Week 7- Burg-RH
Week 8- West-F
Week 9- Minford-CH
Week 10-Waverly-SP......

you know football fan you may be on to something alot of the teams play anyways. The powerhouse team would be the Burg but still be a good if not great conf to play in. And it would be a OHIO VALLEY CONF just without Ironton.
Re: OVC '09
im tired of all the cg ppl talking about the haynes kid, if hes as good as they all say he is then should he have done a little more against fairlands not so good D last year. if hes as good as everyone says he is he sure didnt show it. i still say bloomfields the best overall runningback in the ovc. fairlands had a pretty good group of running backs the past 3 or 4 years you just wouldnt know that bc of the way wilcoxen ran the offence, snyder ran a little more than he did but if fairland would run the ball as much as cg i know for sure bloomfield will be the ovc's leading rusher.

i don't know how you can talk about haynes or bloomfield being the best back in the ovc. what about delawder almost a1000 as a so.almost 900 as junior until either puts up the numbers i don't think either could be the best in the ovc.
Re: OVC '09
delawder is more than likely the best. . but guys. . like it matters. . . . definitely not up to par with the RB's of earlier this decade, i see no hunt brothers, no russel, no christian, no number 11 from 03' RV haha, and not to mention all the other peake runningbacks that would be the best in the league right now. . .in the long run the stats don't matter guys, who cares. . .I speak for everyone I think when I say lets just make the playoffs and win a game.
and the stats thing can be simply explained. . .if you think a Hyland could ever be put in the same league with some of the other running backs just mentioned then you should be taken to a barn and shot. . .but who walked away with amazing stats and a great high school career. . .so on to the OVC 09' TEAMS!!! who's gonna be good

I have been wanting this for years, we play each other anyways so it wouldn't be that hard for scheduling and travel is not that bad, for the most part, I would rather travel to Waverly than River Valley(sorry RV fans.)

Re: OVC '09
yes it is. . . you are not a genius. . the entire point of that was the show how pointless stats are and then to still go on to say that it doesn't even matter who the best back is. . .what are the best teams going to be is what matters
oh don't argue groveyard. . did you play college ball anywhere. . ever coached. . anyways that was the entire point of saying that. . .
and don't argue when you have no grounds kiddo

Re: OVC '09
i have played with both hyland and delawder....simple fact is that right now delawder is the best but yess ur right his stats arent as good as hyland or other backs...jason adams stats wasnt as good as hylands but he was a great running back and better than hyland with hardly any stats..i was just simply replying to where u were talking ab how hyland couldnt be in the same league as the other backs but my opinion is differnent! but lets move on to this years set of backs
Re: OVC '09
Coal Grove will have an absolute STABLE of backs this year: Delawder, Haynes, Wood, Murphy, etc..... A good blend of size and speed in the backfield, to be sure.
If the line is better than it was last year and the defense stays just as good, there's no reason they can't win the conference outright plus finish in the top 10 of the region.
If they throw the ball effectively on top of all the above, there's no reason for them to miss the playoffs.

i will say coal grove with the ovc simply because there going to have more experience than the other teams and more strength but they could always have a bad day but im goin togo wit coal grove taking it home outright this time

not trying to cause conflict
but im responding to fuzzheads post in page one
haynes is not faster then fisher and bloomfield
i did compare times and haynes beat fishers 200 time by .35 seconds in that was his time in 8th grade in the hurdles and bloomfield is even faster then fisher

Haynes was the OVC Champ in the 100m dash last year, wasn't he?
It makes no difference. Coal Grove's backfield is going to be outstanding this year barring an absolute plague of injuries or the complete non-existence of an O-line. We're just splitting hairs....
