If Fairland stays healthy they have the weapons to play with anybody on their schedule.

No argument here. . . I've already predicted at least two conference wins. Heck, they gave some decent CG teams very good and even classic games back when they were only winning two and three games a year!
I think Chessy will end the skid against Fairland this year though. . . it's not a prediction, just a hunch at this point. 8)

Fuzz if the dragons stay healthy I don't see the panthers beating us. The hornets are and should be the favorites going into this football season but IMO the dragons are a sleeper.

Hey, no one thought Fairland could beat Chesapeake in the last game of the season back in 2006, either. The Peake was playing for at least a share of the OVC title and the Dragons were going for their 2nd win of the year, I believe. The Dragons went out and kicked butt early on and were able to pull off a big upset.
A Chesapeake win against Fairland this year wouldn't be as surprising as the result of the 2006 game now would it? 8)
The Dragons are a sleeper. . . if I had to guess, I'd say they should beat River Valley, Rock Hill, and South Point this year. You know as well as I do that the Fairland/Chesapeake game should always be counted as a toss-up; it's one of the best rivalries in the OVC.
Chesapeake will be improved - from what everyone's saying, it sounds like they could possibly have the best line in the OVC. . . . I know they've got a good QB and some decent RBs. If that Panther pride comes out like it used to in the not-too-distant past, watch out!

I have said it before, the only team that is going to beat the Grove this year is themselves, if they come out and play flat like they did in a lot of the games last year then we are in for another long season, but if they come out and play up to their talent level then we should have a great year and a real good chance of playoffs.

Spot on as usual, 2 trap!

CG beat themselves in at least two games last year that I was at. The penalty yardage that was racked up in some of those games was astounding!

I didn't get to go to the Meigs game - I was in Myrtle Beach. I heard that's what happened, but I don't have any right to talk about it since I wasn't there and I didn't see it so I'll take your word for it. The games I was talking about were Minford and Paint Valley. Should have beaten Paint Valley, plain and simple and we should have scored at least two TDs against Minford.
CG struggles against Fairland even when the Dragons are terrible and this past year they had the best team they've had since the 2003 season.

All I will say about the Meigs game last year is on their first score they were able to complete a pass on a three receiver one defender because our coaches didn't want to waste a timeout to change the defense.

heck, to hear you all talk on here it sounds as if no has ever been as good as coal grove. they only lose when they beat themselves!!!!! that's impressive. are they that good? sounds like this year they are going to go far in the playoffs, I guess that is if they don't beat themselves!

Didn't say that. . . but there were games last year in which they racked up over 100 yards in penalties and would take themselves out of position to capitalize on their good play.

chesapeake always say they have the best line in the ovc because its the players that get on here and say that..chesapeake has had a bad line for the last two years when they said they had the best line and they never did...coal grove will run away with the ovc if they stop getting unsportsmanship flags and there chances of getting into the playoffs would be easier to if they wouldnt have a bye week and this is coming from a south point player from last year

don't know about knipp but I can't see them getting rid of him, he's a good coach he just had a young team last year, as for Lucas he is at his last coaching job, when he leaves the Grove thats it he is done.

Knipp is a heck of a coach. Last year they were starting freshmen all over the place. O line is expiriecned this year but still alot of youth every where else. I dont think he will be going anywhere unless he wants to.

He shouldn't! Not even Vince Lombardi could win without enuff talented players. RH simply went through a year without enuff talented or experienced players to do much. Many will be back this year, a year older, & correspondingly bigger, smarter, faster, & stronger.

All schools go through such times, it seems. It's hit Peake football as it hit South point a few years back, & even perennial state powers Monroeville & Amanda Clearcreek had "power failures" recently.

Betcha things will improve in Red Folx Land before long, as they will in Peake.
