claygrad: You don't have to keep your opinions to yourself.......this is America and you can express your feelings no matter what they are......but like my post in ALL CAPS, expect someone to disagree with you.........but always stand your ground, don't back down........just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean you're wrong on that subject.

The Portsmouth varsity is 5-0, the JV team is 2-2 with a good win over Wheelersburg, and the freshmen are 4-0. Things are indeed looking brighter on the Trojan horizon.

Hopefully we can field some good teams after this year, even though we lose all our size to graduation, with Williams, Cadogen, and Link all being seniors.

Just remember people these are just kids,so be fair and let them have fun ,sounds like a lot of sour grapes here,its funny when a team loses ,its all about the other team,ive been in coaching for 15yrs,and what i see from ptown is a very good team with lots of talent,not very familiar with the area teams,but ptown has the two best guards ive seen in a while,and no they are not perfect but ill bet ,a number of teams would be happy to have Horne -Bendolph in there back court!Remember this is a team trying to work in new players,players learning new system ,give them time and dont be hatin so much,facts are 5-0, 3players average double figures,and will get much better!

Good win by the Trojans and the definitely started out on FIRE!!! Can't wait to watch the game Friday it should be a great matchup between two great programs in southern ohio. I stand by what TrojanDave said about comments and hopefully things will sort of quiet down but I know their still be "kids" who get on and mouth off. Good luck the rest of the way to the Burg!! You got a heck of a player in Stegman and he can do alot of things.

I think it would be hard to judge just how good the Trojan JV is as most of the better JV players for the Burg are on the varsity this year. Stegman, Ward, Schank and Whitley all play varsity.


Burg hung around with the Trojans a little better than I thought they would. That is just a testament to the kind of coach Barrick is and how he always as his team mentally prepared to win every game they play. Like I've said in other threads, everytime a Pirate player steps onto any field or court, they expect to win that contest, no matter how outmanned they may be. It is an attitude that is enstilled in them at the Junior high level and it is carried over to the HS level. Sure it is high expectations, but it is something the Burg athletes take great pride in, knowing that they have that kind of reputation to uphold form years past and I don't see nothing wrong with dreaming big.


Good luck to the Pirates and Trojans the rest of the season. Unless they meet again of course.

Its good to let the trojan tradition in southern ohio get a few wins every once in awhile against burg. Makes them want to play them again next year!
