Adams County Holiday Tourney

Post by shljunkie »

Thoughts on the initial matchups?
I think Manch/WU should be a good game. I think it will be close but WU will eventually be too much for Manch.
Peebles/NA girls game should be a good one. NA are young but seem to be playing well and are on a roll thus far. I'm still going to take Peebles in a close one though I think it could go either way.

The way the match-ups are set this year, the two best teams are playing each other in the first round in North Adams and Peebles. Whoever wins this game will win the tournament. It seems like Peebles has been off for a long time since their last game. North Adams traveled to Wheelersburg and kept it close for a half or more, but got unraveled down the stretch. I saw Wheelersburg and Peebles scrimmage this pre-season and think that Peebles has improved since that game. I'll take Peebles in a close game. Maybe the Lady Indians will come out fired up and ready to play since North Adams upset the Lady Indians in this tournament last year. The Beasley girl from North Adams has had a solid year up to this point. Of course, Peebles has the junior Emily Hoop who can play all five positions.

I wasn't going to respond, but I must! Here are my predictions:

West Union v. Manchester - West Union wins this one in what should be a close game.

Peebles v. North Adams - Peebles will struggle handling North Adams pressure. I see NA winning this one by double digits. Although the revenge factor of NA beating Peebles the last couple Holiday tournaments might cause it to be a bit closer.

Consolation Game: Peebles shouldn't have any trouble with the Lady Greyhounds. They just need to contain Miss Little. Peebles by 15.

Championship game: NA has already shown they are too much for West Union to handle, but West Union has improved quite a bit from years past. NA by 18.

:-D :-D :-D

North Adams should be able to hold off a tough Peebles team, IF the Lady Devils team that played in their first four games shows up. Hopefully the Lady Devils will come out to play all four quarters. I'll pick the Lady Devils in a close one (5-10 points)

Great job by the Lady Devils tonight! Despite poor shooting by NA, they kept the pressure up and forced Peebles into quite a few turnovers. Great game Ally McFarland, C103 Player of the game tonight!!

Great job by the Lady Devils. Alily McFarland stepped up BIG TIME when her team needed her most. Girls showed a lot of courage by weathering a strong 14-1 run to regain the lead. The pressure of North Adams gave Peebles a lot of trouble. Both teams will welcome a couple of days to prepare for their respective games.

Not sure what happened to Peebles in this game but it seems this always happens to them in this holiday tourney, NA always comes to play. Peebles girls seemed to be getting the momentum at the half but just fell apart again.

North Adams takes on Manchester tonight.

I look for a good win for the Lady Devils tonight. NA has an extremely tough schedule coming up so let's hope they are focused on the task at hand tonight.

Go Lady Devils!!!!
