Won't be able to make it this evening. Annual Lions Club lightbulb sale is tonight and Tuesday. Members won't be selling door-to-door this year because the outdated bulbs will be gone with the wind next year. Members will sell leftovers in front of Tim Sites Insurance building (old Ohio Bell commercial office) off Second Ave., from 6-8 p.m.

Gahs83 I think the few sweeps to the end helped spread the defense out at wellston I would still like to see some play actionpass and a little roll out just to keep them honest on defense make things alot easier on or backs

Re: Week 4--Marietta at Gallipolis 9/16
The only problem with the sweeps that we ran is that the formation we were in made it obvious what we were going to do. I was able to predict the sweep every time we ran it. That doesn't keep well-coached teams honest. Having trips to one side and running the other wing on a Jet Sweep to the trips isn't keeping them honest when we're running between the tackles out of a full house backfield. In fact, it has the opposite effect and just makes our sweeps predictable as well.Mighty Mighty Devils wrote:Gahs83 I think the few sweeps to the end helped spread the defense out at wellston I would still like to see some play actionpass and a little roll out just to keep them honest on defense make things alot easier on or backs
In between the tackles is what has been working for us. In many cases, they've worked even though teams are loading the box against us. If we want teams to not overload against those plays, then we have to run something out of the same formation and/or something that looks like one of those plays and has misdirection or play action. Belly Option, HB Counter With a Belly Fake, Play Action with a Belly Fake, Boot/Waggle with a Power Fake, etc.

Hey Jottings, Overall it was a very sloppy game on both sides. Many fumbles and missed tackles. From the size of the kids I would say that both teams dressed a lot of freshman.... #2 for GAHS (Logan) stood out to me, good speed & balance and not afraid of a little contact... Hard to make any predictions about the future after watching this game.... Another Doubleheader at Memorial field this Wed. 7th & 8th grade Vs. Chilly starting at 5....

I'm gonna try to make at least one game Wednesday. Last two weeks, bad weather and lightbulb sale have taken a toll on my attendance.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to gahs4ever from your internet friends from Marietta. He is a class guy that all in the area hold in high esteem. Hope to see you back on line soon.

Considering offensive production to date, it will surprise me if GAHS scores 31 on anyone this year.4thnpine wrote:devils 31

Well all 3 teams Gallia has faced this year were pretty good defensively IMO not saying that marietta is bad just that the other 3 were pretty decent
Re: Week 4--Marietta at Gallipolis 9/16
Gallia should win this one... With last nights rain field conditions could play a big factor in the outcome... This could be the last time we play Marietta for awhile.. Lets send them out with something to remember....
