Re: CG QB 09
I would like to see someone else take snaps, that way Wayne could be in the backfield as a runner and go out and catch passes for us, he has to much speed to be under center if we don't need him to be.
Re: CG QB 09
I found him to be impressive at the qb position, especially considering he is a freshman. Don't know what he's like in a different position but would think the transfer would have to be pretty good to replace the guy you already have.

Sparks will be a senior!!!!!! and YES CG could pass--if they stayed with it!!!! Several times sparks connected with haynes!!!!! and brammer!!! I'd like to see them use sparks as a receiver!!! he's got the speed, heigth and the hands for it!!!!
CG should be the OVC champs next year if they want it!!!!!!

Re: CG QB 09
I agree sportsmom, my best memory of Sparks is from his sophmore year when we were playing fairland, a dragons receiver caught the ball on the other side of the field and had about a 25 yard head start, and Wayne caught him before he could score running across the field, he has speed and size, put him out receiving, and in the backfield running the ball with Haynes and Delawder and thats a nice crew right there, and I believe the conference is ours for the taking this year, its going to be how bad do they want it, and also how bad do they want to make the playoffs, we have to win conference outright to have a shot, because I know I am like many other Hornet fans, after two I am tired of co-championships and no playoffs, this class has the ability to accomplish so much more.

Re: CG QB 09
Coal Grove should be loaded the next few years with so much talent, so therefore they need to use that talent where it fits best and I think Sparks was a great passer, but I do think that his best fit would be at a receiver, because of 3 things height, speed, and hands. But the season is a long way away and who knows what may happen but if they were smart they would actually use their talent to its best abilities.

Re: CG QB 09
Stick the new kid in... if he's good enough to play for duke... he's good enough to take sparks' spot and send him on out to receiver. But this is IF and only IF CG is planning on passing. I would hate to see a HUGE advantage go to waste.
Re: CG QB 09
It doesnt really matter who qb's for CG!!!! You basically stand there and hand the ball off!!!! CG has a good passing qb and wouldnt take advantage of it!!! There thing is----RUN-RUN--UP THE MIDDLE!!!! NO MATTER WHAT!!! it's never going to change!!!

WE DID CHANGE, AND WE SUCKED WHEN WE CHANGE, I DON'T SEE ANYONE ASKING LUTZ TO CHANGE HIS OFFENSIVE STYLE, ROCK HILL DIDN'T WIN A GAME LAST YEAR BUT I BET KNIPP WILL KEEP HIS OFFENSIVE STYLE, IF IT'S NOT BROKE DON'T FIX IT.
Re: CG QB 09
Coal Grove doesn't have to make any dramatic changes. Don't worry, Grovers: I promise that having a legitimate passing threat won't turn your little village all topsy-turvey.
It seems quite obvious to me that Fairland has Coal Grove figured out on both sides of the ball - Coal Grove can't pass and they can't defend it, that simple.... Gotta learn to beat teams who do things differently than they do them inside the village limits...

You're not from around the grove are you? The grove always has a pretty good 7-on-7 crew during the summer before the football season. This however does not transfer to the playing field from the end of August on.
It is what it is. Coal Grove is just not going to incorporate a more balanced offensive attack.

Re: CG QB 09
And I find it funny that we played Spring Valley in 7 on 7 this past summer and now the QB has transferred here.
