Re: Division IV Sectional at Northwest
Wow Whiteoak has only one win?? Thats amazing. They had a run of consecitive sectional titles, and have been a team you did not want to play. Coach Smith has done a great job there. Does anyone know if he is still the coach??
Re: Division IV Sectional at Northwest
Leesburg Fairfield is now 7-4 with a 66-53 win at Manchester on Sat.
Re: Division IV Sectional at Northwest
Thanks Go48 for Fairfield's corrected record! I am assuming then that Manchester drops to 6-3.

Re: Division IV Sectional at Northwest
I think the Lady Hounds will make it to the District Finals....
Re: Division IV Sectional at Northwest
You can't count Valley out to move on. They will be a big threat.
Re: Division IV Sectional at Northwest
I agree digger with you. Valley will turn some head an be a very tuff team to contend with. An I will also say at this point in time that NONE of the team want to come up against South Webster or New Boston in the Sectionals or the Districts. I myself look for a repeat of last years District Final.
Re: Division IV Sectional at Northwest
1 South Webster
2 Lucasville Valley
3 New Boston Glenwood
4 Portsmouth Clay/Leesburg Fairfield
Manchester has lost to every team they played that had a winning record. Fayetteville Perry 7-4, Seaman North Adams 7-3 and Leesburg Fairfield 7-4. The Greyhounds wins came against teams with a combined 8 wins and 42 losses. They defeated Westfall 1-11, Ironton St.Joseph 3-5, Whiteoak( twice ) 1-10, and West Union 2-6. I wouldn't think that would get them in the top four seeds.

Fairfield is now 8-4
The defeated Peebles in OT 43-33
They are playing well this year. They have big wins over Adena and Ripley. I agree with a_c_m the Manchester hasn't won against the better competition. Fairfield beat them by 13. Manchester is young and maybe a year away. They have great shooters but not that strong in the paint.

Re: Division IV Sectional at Northwest
I heard from some fans that Clay defeated Peebles 40-38 on Saturday. According to their website Clay is now 9-4 (8-2 SOCI). They have lost to New Boston (2), Valley, and South Webster.

Re: Division IV Sectional at Northwest
I've seen Clay and Fairfield both play at Peebles in the last week and they both won in close games - Clay by two points and Fairfield by 10 points in OT. Fairfield's win did come against Peebles when the Lady Indians were without the services of two starters due to injuries.
That being said, I was very impressed with Clay. They have some good size and move the ball on offense very well. Their guard play is more than adequate, at least it was for most of the game against Peebles. They turned the ball over late and Peebles got back into the game after trailing by close to 10 points with about 2 minutes to go. A lot of their turnovers didn't seem to come from their guards though during that stretch.
I think if Clay and Fairfield played head to head, I'd take Clay by a few points.
