Did anyone see the foul differential of the Western at Paint Valley game. According to the Portsmouth Daily Times the Bearcats made 27 of 37 free throws compared to 4 of 8 for the Indians.

a_c_m,
Do you attribute that to Paint Valley being more aggressive or unfair officiating?

I don't attribute it to anything. I am just making a statement about what I read in the paper.

Western @ Paint Valley

Western was flat and played as if they expected to win just by showing up. They definately have some talent, however Paint Valley flat out played harder on this night.

Defense definately needs to improve for Western to reach the Convo.

Workman for Paint Valley killed Western all night long.

I think that if the Greyhounds can go 2-1 there next 3 they should still get the 1. That is if they can beat Whiteoak and Ripley, I don't think if they lose to Peebles again that; that should hurt them that bad, but if they was able to win all 3 then they should be a lock. Correct me if I'm wrong.... :-D

Got to watch MHS for the first time Friday night. They definitely need Little on the floor to make they're offense go. He sat a lot with foul trouble and the Hounds have no back up what so ever. The freshman comes off the bench, is going to be pretty good, but isn't there yet. Offensively the Hounds are pretty good. But they aren't getting out of the Convo for sure. They're defense is awful!! Fairfield drove the lane at will. I only remember one charge being attempted to be taken and that was by Little on a baseline drive. The bad thing is...Fairfield didn't have a good point guard. Any team with a strong slashing guard will give them fits.

Congrats to the Quinlin kid for his 1000 point.

I don't imagine too many smaller D4 teams have great depth.

For that matter I'm not sure how many great slashing PG are out there in D4......Kyle Ondera is certainly the best, but not sure of the others.

on paper the smaller schools in the shl should have at least 3 league losses by playing 5 league games against the bigger schools. this year the smaller division is probably overall better than the big division with the exception of north adams. manchester has drilled eastern brown and leesburg has done the same to ripley. this rarely happens in the shl as the top two teams in the small division usually can hold their own with the bigger schools but this year 3 of the smaller schools are holding their own and whiteoak has played the bigger schools pretty close as well. i believe fayetteville beat west union as well.

How is the weather going to affect the draw next week? What are your predictions for the draws at the sectional?

western had just played east the night before, with shanks getting his 1000 point. the team played a hard game all night, and anyone thats ever been to east's gym knows that its a hard place to play at. obviously western played more intensely because the whole team wanted to help shanks out. on the flip side, paint valley came out on all fours wanting to help workman get HIS 1,000. i dont see sayin workman killed western all night.... vinny had 33, and that was without all the calls...

a_c_m wrote:It looks like 4 advance from Valley and 4 from Wellston. The District starts March 9th at OU.

There are only three teams with winning records in the Wellston Sectional. Oak Hill, Waterford and Southern.

This has changed alot and the Wellston sectional is looking better........You now have 6 of the 10 teams with winning records.
You also have a 5-8 Symmes Valley team that has the talent to play with anyone in the sectional other than Oak Hill of course.

This is about as weak a sectional as you will ever find and with 4 teams being able to come out of it to the district anyone has a chance if they can get on any kind of a roll late in the season.

Sparky, I think Portsmouth East & Green have both been in regionals in the recent past.

East's district championships have come in '72,'90,'94,'95...hopefully East will be able to get another one in a year or two but it is going to take some work and hopefully get a big kid to go along with the guards East has.

Lightle04- I think everyone is talking about how weak the SOC 1 is this year. South Webster plays in the SOC 2 which is always competitive.

I am still finding it hard to believe that Western will get the 1 seed over Manchester. I believe Manchester has only lost to teams in bigger divisions. They have went on the road and played a tough schedule. With their records being close, I have to give the edge to Manchester. However, the SHL is outnumbered in votes! I also think Fairfield deserves the 3 over East with their schedule and quality wins.

We are less than a week away from draw, best of luck to all the teams this week!
