You sure you don't want to start a thread about the Waverly game first?
This will be another tough game in the 7 game stretch of tough games for the Burg. This will be the first home game out of the last 6 games. Burg went a respectable 3-2 on the 5 game road trip.
THey now have two games left in the first half of the SOC season. This game, at home and then Friday night at Waverly. 4-3 would be nice, but 5-2 out of those 7 games would be outstanding.
Good luck Pirates. Big game to help you keep pace with the Oaks and the Indians.

I look for the Pirates to rebound and get the win over the Mohawks. I don't think Northwest has a deep enough bench to compete with the Burg for 4 quarters.

Don't know why but I see Northwest playing good in this one..just a hunch....My guess is Burg wins in a close one 51-45.I have'nt exactly been tearing it up in the picks contest so I'll probably be way off but I just have a feeling NW will play them tough.

If the Burg can't score more than 35 points they won't win many games this year.

You have take into account that was against one of the better teams in the area that they only scored 35 points against. The Burg will be fine. Most people in the area didn't expect much of a different outcome of this game.

Anyone have any updates on this one? I heard Burg won 49-47 in OT and Stegman fouled out with only like 4 points....but the Burg JV won big. What happened?

I called my dad and he said it was 46-45 and that the Burg hit the winning bucket with .07 seconds on the clock.
Re: Northwest @ Wheelersburg 1/13
Ward made a very nice backdoor cut to get a layup with .7 left. Very similar to his game winning layup at Minford last Tues.
Re: Northwest @ Wheelersburg 1/13
Andy Stegman was in foul trouble all game. He played less than 15 minutes total and had five points, all in the fourth quarter.
Other than some early back and forth, Northwest led almost the entire game with the Pirates finally getting the lead in the fourth quarter. Leslie scored last to tie the game at 36-36 and force overtime. Wheelersburg's largest lead of the game was three points--in the overtime. Northwest's largest lead was nine in the third quarter. Wheelersburg responded to that with a 9-0 run to tie the game (without Stegman playing.)
Hank Leslie was a monster both scoring and on the boards, as one would expect, especially without Andy to counter balance him. He led all scorers with 24 points.
Brandon Schankweiler and Shane Ward came up big but several others had some critical contributions. Schankweiler put in 17 points to lead the Pirates and had the assist to Ward for the winning basket with just a couple of seconds remaining. Northwest inbounded the pass and called a time out.
With 0.7 seconds and the length of the floor, the Mohawks threw the ball to Leslie in the key. He did not have time to turn and shoot and threw it backwards over his head and nearly put it in. Darn good for a no-look shot.

It's good to know the the Pirates can win when Andy has a bad game.
