I spoke to the Coal Grove girls 6th grade coach and she said they are not going to the Rock Hill tournament. She has tried to call you but can not get an answer. I need to know who the Ironton 6th grade girls will play and when they will play since Coal Grove is not playing. Call Nick Miller @ 532-6345 ext. 1361.

Yea, Coal Grove committed to the Minford tournament, during this week early, and to the Rock Hill Tournament also but Rock Hill changed their dates and Coal Grove was already committed to play at Minford.

As long as they are in the 5-6th grade then let them play...Thats want tourny ball is all about in bringing in the local teams and battling it out and and of course making a little cash for the host

My question is where is my money going??? Since I paid for my child to be in this tourney, i understand that there are some expenses...(refs, janitors, etc.) but what or who is the total profit benefiting?????

Is the money going to the schools, or in someone's pocket? :-D

JUST WONDERING??????

As a concerned parent I think I had the right to ask....I am not picking at just Rock Hill This question could be for all the schools that hold tourney's....I am new to all this and just wanted to know where my money was going????? if you would like you can pm me and let me know exactly how this tourney is benefiting the kids....

I like everyone else have concerns and it was a question that i felt justified in asking....

youngredmen: don't take it to heart....i was not picking on you....I just seen where you are the one that quoted to make a little money for the host and you was the one that got singled out....Hey I am totally fine with your answer...I am happy that the money is going back for the kids... :-D ...Thanks for your response :122245 as for me coming up to you at the middle school... well now that would give my idenity away.... j/k

as for ////---yes i believe i have the right to know where my money is going.....i understand that people have alot of time and costs in this BUT this tourney is for the KIDS and as long as the money is going back to the KIDS then i have no problems with that.....

osumufan: yes this was my first post...and yes maybe a little negative....who knows maybe i can keep it that way or do a 360

I'm not from Rock Hill either, and that was one of the rudest questions ever. If you're that concerned about the $100 don't play. Did you expect to get to play in the tournament for free?

Why do you feel as if you need a pm to explain anything? You can tell that you're new to this. Nobody enters any of these tournaments because they want to benefit a cause. They enter these tournaments to win. Anybody can rent the gym and hold a tounament just the same as youngredmen. It's parents like you that are behind the scenes, asking these questions like Where's the money going?...and...Just wondering, why did our teams get split? (using this statement purely as example, of course :-D ) that causes trouble. These statements are ones of insinuation. You are insinuating that somebody's actions are of wrong doing. As long as you're not asked to work at the tournament then just be happy your kid was picked for an allstar team or don't pay the money to enter, and sit at home. You don't need to explain anything Rick. If "giving my 2 cents" wants to benefit a worthy cause then he or she could rent the gym, pay the refs and donate to whomever they want. Or they could pocket the money. :-D

I'm glad for these last few posts. When someone gives up their time, spends hours on the phone to get all this organized, they and their team who I know really help out deserve the benefits. Rick gave all the kids an opportunity to play when he could of just had a 5th/6th grade tournament for boys. He owes no one any type of explanation. I agree with those above, do a tournament yourself and do what you want with the money. I'm not sure you make enough to deal with all the headaches and people you have to deal with.

You are doing a wonderful job, Rick. Actually, all the tournaments we have visited ( SP - CHESY- CG) have been great. I am so glad all these people devote their time to these kids, including my kid. My family really enjoys coming early and watching all the talented young men and women on the floor. Keep up the good work kids and thank you to all of the tournament directors!!!!
