Jackson Vs Athens...AT Wellston
Jackson Vs Athens...AT Wellston
How do you think this one will round out?
Athens won the first contest at Jackson as Jackson missed 20+ layups in the first 3 1/2 qtrs and played without Morgan Dobbins. Since that time Athens has went on to a good start to the season and Jackons has made great advances in the past 3 games.
Athens is the favorite....but Jackson needs to win this game to keep their confidence high for the tough upcoming league games.

The real Bulldogs show-up for this one.
It doesn't matter what league we're in, we still thump the Jackson Jackies.

Good luck to the Ironmen tomorrow! They've been playing much better the last 3 games. Hopefully that carries over against Athens.
Larry Dallas,
I noticed the Regal Beagle in your location. Is that the one in Ada, Ohio?

Athens runs away with this for the first half. Jackson slowly comes back midway into the third qtr. and by late in the fourth quarter jumps out to a 5 point lead and holds on to take the win by 3.

Looks like Jackson will be playing in the 2nd biggest game of the National Hoops Classic....WOW

Athens wins 64-62 winning bucket with 8 secs left Jackson tried a three at the end. Andrew Brown for Jackson had 20 pts, good shooter glad to seem him finally get some time. Larry preparing for next year will have a pretty good and deep team. Jackson might surprise a team or two down the stretch possibly in the tourney!
Re: Jackson Vs Athens...AT Wellston
Athens got the game winner from Corey Butcher who ended the game with 16 points. Frank Valentour was named Athens player of the game and had 18 points and Matt Witten scored 17. Andrew Brown had 18 and was named the Jackson player of the game. Dylan Newsome also had 18. Jackson had a 3 at the buzzer to win, but was unable to hit it.

I thought that Valentour was under a 2 game suspension?!?!? According to the Athens Mess, he was supposed to sit out again tonight. What is up with that BD64?
Re: Jackson Vs Athens...AT Wellston
SteelyDan, I'm not privy to how this is working, but I have heard that the 2nd game suspension will come on Friday in a league game with Nelsonville-York. This is not part of the school denial of participation. This is an extra game that the coach added to the process. With that in mind, my guess is that he can pick any game he wants. This way, he will miss two league games that are more important than non-league games. Is that clear?
Re: Jackson Vs Athens...AT Wellston
Pretty tight game.
Jackson hit a 3 to start the game and then had 3 or 4 straight turnovers and Coach Jordan just kept subbing in players for those not seeming to be into yet and it took a while to find anything. I think 10 players played in the first 7 minutes.
Andrew Brown with a breakout shooting performance going for 20 big points. Dylan Newsome had his typical 18 points. Again, Jackson missed 4 or 5 WIDE OPEN layups in the 1st half (not even really contested)
I thought Athens played much harder than Jackson did in the fisrt qtr and to me turned out to be the difference. Athens shot very well early and many shots in the paint....even though Jackson was bigger.
Anyone who says Jordan is just going through the motions is just nuts. Refs allowed a very physical game and Athens played to it better for most of the game.
A good effort all night long by sophomore Kip Winchester of Jackson. Great defense and hustle.
Good Luck to Athens the rest of the way.

The second game of Valentour's suspension will indeed be Friday
at Nelsonville-York.... I am not certain of how the two
games of the suspension were determined.

Tough loss for the Ironmen, but another pretty good effort. Hope that the Ironmen can continue to improve.
Dylan Newsome has to be one of the most consistent players at Jackson in a long time. It seems like he puts together a very good all around game each time out.

listened to this one on radio today. very good game.
not sure i understand the suspension... would think it would be served back to back games.... doesnt make sense to sit out 2 league games but play in a non league game in between.

Gentlemen,
And I mean that, as I know you both and have talked to the both of you recently, (whether you know it our not)........!!!
I was not aware the that game suspensions due to ejection were at the discretion of their coach..........
I am pretty sure that once you get tossed, you are out for the next two games on your schedule, at least according to the OHSAA and what they have posted on their website........
Seems to me that either, 1) I'm uninformed, which is quite possible, or 2) that something is awry, according to the rules.
Perhaps one, or even of both of you, could help me understand where the OHSAA gives the coach the latitude to decide which games their players are suspended..........
I'm not trying to stir the pot, or call you out. Don't take it that way, please. Something seems to be out of alignment with the discipline, and I don't understand what it may be.

Re: Jackson Vs Athens...AT Wellston
Frank Valentour was suspended due to a school related matter that has nothing to do with the OHSAA. He was not ejected from a game. The suspension(s) coincides with the school discipline.
Re: Jackson Vs Athens...AT Wellston
A little request to the planners for next year's event. Do NOT ask the referees of the first game to ever come back. If you were there you would understand.
Re: Jackson Vs Athens...AT Wellston
Onehitwonder has it exactly right. This had nothing to do with game conduct. School rules only. I hope that clears it up for Steely Dan. I can't believe you think I might get something wrong. Or you might be talking to my wife to much!! We missed Frank on Friday against Belpre and we will miss him against N-Y. The rest of the team will have to step up to get a win.
