Re: Clay @ Eastern 1/23
HEY REBEL, I PLAYED AT THAT TIME, ESTEP SIGNED A 2 YEAR COTRACT IN THE 50-51 SEASON. COACHED 1 YEAR AND GOT CALLED INTO THE NAVY, HE WAS A CHIEF PETTY OFICER. DON COACHED 51-52 AND 52-53 THEN ESTEP RETURNED AND COACHED 53-54 THEN MONK RETUREND FOR 4 0R 5 YEARS UNTILL ARCH JUSTICE STARTED HIS CAREER AT CLAY. MONK OVER ALL RECORD IS 107-41 I DON'T KNOW WHAT ESTEP ENDED UP WITH, BUT 13-5 IS ONLY HIS SEASON RECORD, THE COUNTY TOURNAMENT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT AND HIS 2ND YEAR IS NOT RECORDED EATHIER. CLAY HIGH SCHOOL DOSE NOT KEEP GOOD RECORDS OF COACHES OR PLAYERS FROM THE PAST.

Re: Clay @ Eastern 1/23
Not for sure if Clays coach is good or not. The bottom line is...he has been hired for this season by the board. And barring him doing something stupid, he will remain the coach. Parents and fans have to support him. Especially parents. He is your kids coach! Your kid has to respect him to practice and play hard for him. If your constantly bashing the coach and questioning everything he does in front of your players, they will develop an attitude that will be impossible for the coach to over come. Kids look up to and respect they're parents. They listen to this stuff and believe me, it's all the excuse the need to slack! If you kid is one who is looking for more playing time, the only way he will get it is through hard work and effort to improve. If he doesn't respect the coach and listen to him, he will never pay his dues, because COACH doesn't know what he is talking about. BUT MOMMY AND DADDY AND EVERYONE ELSE DOES!!! Right??? He is the coach until the board says so. Support your kids and the program, and even if things don't go exactly how everyone would like it to, it will make for a more pleasant season for everybody. ESPECIALLY THE KIDS!!!

Re: Clay @ Eastern 1/23
The problem with firing HS coaches for losing is they have little control over the level of talent that they coach. I think a great deal of the problems Clay fans have with their coach can be attributed to an overestimation of the talent on the team.

ignert1 wrote:O of B, with your line of thinking there would never be any reason to replace a coach "unless he did something stupid". I think winning and losing has a lot to do with any coach keeping his posistion. If they can turn things around and win a few games all this talk will go away, so let's hope they play over 500 ball the rest of the season.
You are missing my point. I didn't say you can't replace the coach. The board isn't going to do it during the season. They will stick to they're decision for the year. And you don't know if they are going to rehire him or not next season. Therefore you support what you have and your kids, and make it as good as it can be for them. (NOT YOU) My whole point is bashing the coach hurts the kids more than the coach. The more you slander the coach, the more the kids will follow suit. It's like coaches wining to the refs. Next thing you know the fans and players are going after them too. I've dealt with this before. You may or may not get it.

Eastern wins, I believe the final score was 70-48. Not exactly sure though. Good game for the Eagles tonight. Everyone really played well again. Clay was close throughout. They were within 10 for most of the game, then Eastern pulled away late. Good Job Eagles and get ready for the next game.
