They kept yelling at him to stay away from Rocky because he already had the fight won on points, but he wanted the knock-out. I'm sure coach Barrick wanted his kids to be much more patient and "stay away" from them down the stretch.
I think the biggest compliment to both teams is the way that both teams were able to battle playing each other's game. Burg dictated the overall tempo of the game, but Valley was also able to assert its style at different segments of the game...each time they did, the Burg kids responded. To me, that is the sign of two very solid basketball teams who are going to be a tough out for anybody in the tournament.
I was left feeling that if Barrick had ONE more timeout for that last stretch, they would have won the game. But he had used them all up getting the kids through to that final bit and had none left to break what turned out to be a 9-0 run to take the lead. It is hard to settle the young'ums down without stopping and talking to them.
But good luck to the Indians. As I said before: DON'T waste this!
Unfortunately, I don't see you beating Oak Hill at Oak Hill. The gym is smaller and you won't be able to run them as well as it sounded like you did at Valley. But I hope that you do.
Of course Minford at Minford won't be a cakewalk either...
Isnt every court the SAME size dimension wise? I think Valley will try to run up at Oak Hill, just as they did at home. Coach V is the type of guy that I can see emphasizing that the size of the gym has nothing to do with it, it's the insides of the OOB lines that are all the same.
