Now do we want to debate this , call it even, or just accept it for what it is. I am curious to know how you felt about their job performance tonight since it fell your way this time. :aaaaa46

Warrior Mom,

Stated once, but let me respond. If these same officials were in Chilly tonight and did the same thing, then shame on the SEOAL and the OHSAA for letting it happen. I don't think any ref intentional does this things. I just want consistency. Being on the road or at home should make no difference in how the game is called. I feel bad for the Warren girls if that happened. In reading the WBEX story, looks like the game went to OT, so I am sure it was intense and hard fought.

Injuries are a hassle and both teams on the court, I'm sure, would be better off to have proven players/leaders back from injury. However, resilient teams find a way to keep playing, and both Warren and Chillicothe have done that. I don't think anyone can dispute that this was one heck of a game.

I was at that girls game in Chilli tonight, the Lady Warriors were on the foul line, game tied at 46, with 2 shots with about 10 seconds left, missed both, game goes to OT, Warren only scores one point and gets some ticky-tack fouls. Same thing that plagued the Chilli boys last night hit the Lady Warriors tonight.

To both basketball programs, these have been two awesome games! Congrats to both the Warren and Chilli boys and girls, both very gutsy games.

Hitchbone64,
Trust me when I say , I've ate more than my share of crow in my lifetime. And I appreciate you taking the time to put yourself in a "Warriors" shoes. We take great pride in belonging to the SEAOL,and having the pleasure of playing teams like Chilli that challenges our kids to step up and develop that heart and passion you seen Friday night.
Bottom line is this......they are all someones child, with parents such as I who want them to experience the feeling of success, joy, accomplishment, much of what your Cavs felt on a last second shot, in March '08.
Thank you for being a big enough person to admit that your statement may have been hurtful to others, and putting it out there.
I wish you and the Cavs the best of luck in the future.

Signed.....One Proud Warrior Mom :aaaaa58

Hitchbone, I wasn't implying that you were a parent...just responding to several comments regarding the game by Chilly fans (parents who are involved with the program). I'm glad to see your comments after digesting this loss, especially about winning and losing with class. There's another area where Chilly has been hit hard and deservately so...when you win, act like you've been there before, and when you lose, look your opponents in the eye and shake their hands (handle your dissappoint in private)...don't play the blame game, just play the game.

Mr. Hitchbone, I have read your posts on here for a long time as was shocked by your post immediately after the game, from frustration of a long trip and a bad deal in your eyes. You are a class act by admitting your mistake and you should be commended for that. Kudos to you.

I will stand by my statement of "bad both ways". There were many calls that went against Warren that were "confusing" to our kids (and fans) too. I still feel the right call was made under the basket for the shove though...something you just can not do.

I wish the Cavs the best of luck for the remainder of the season.

Also, #23 Jon Hebb is a senior. Austin Cunningham and Grant Venham are the two starting sophomores.

I wasn't going to post on here about this thread.Being a Cavalier fan and travel to this game on a 1hour and 50 mins trip from Chillicothe.I will not blame the ref's on this game, was there bad calls in the game yes. When you go 10 for 24 from the free throw line you are going to lose a game. Then you got 12 kids on the bench and only 7 play in the game and you have kids in foul trouble why not use some of the kids sitting on the bench.I'm sure the kids can play basketball or they wouldn't be sitting there.I have to give Warren credit nine kids on their bench to Chillicothe 12 kids. They out hustle us on the floor.Maybe this will be a wake up for this team. One other thing how many easy shots did we miss??????????

kir,

Thanks for your support of the Cavs and I won't rehash the officiating. However, if you have been watching our kids all year, other then the North College Hill game, the kids (except Dawes) have not shot well from the Free Throw line and still won. We got beat Friday and against Ironton, because we did not win the battle on the boards. We got outrebounded handily Friday night. Especially on the offensive boards. Against Ironton the same thing happened.

As for the bench, I have 100% confidence in Coach K.'s rotation. We played 8 Friday night. And those 8 should be able to get the job done. With Benson out for the year, London just coming back, and losing one of the guards who played earlier in the year, we are lacking in depth (which should have been a strength for us). Also, it is tough to play young kids in a road game.

We will be fine. This is a learning lesson for us. Yes, the free throw shooting is not good, but we have overcome that. We need to get better and will. I have full confidence we will get back on a roll and have a chance to win the SEOAL South Division. We did not get a League Championship banner last year and I would love to get one this year. The only way that happens is playing in the Day of Champion game as your division champ.

GO CAVS!!!

Bottom line is Chilli had there chances and lost. The way I see it this could be a VERY good thing for both teams. Warren OBVIOUSLY needed a win after reeling from 3 straight defeats. Chilli however will hopefully use this to refocus and not lose again for a LOOOOONG while. I don't see the Cavs losing again before regionals. Hopefully they will use this game as they did the Zanesville and Logan elm games last year and will not overlook anyone the rest of the season.

In the end, the only thing that it will hurt is their chance at the top spot on PFloyyd's elite 8. I know that dropped chilli into a tie with ironton for 1st in the south and they split the season so who looks to play in the Championship on the DOC?

gymratt,

We still have a tough road ahead of us. I will not discount any of these games after what I witnessed against Warren friday night. Obviously teams are scouting us and anything in the SEOAL can be tough this year. Here is a look at the stretch run and what we may be up against.

Jackson (Away) - Coach Jordan has them playing well.

Zanesville (Home) - Need I say anymore. Battle

Portsmouth (Home) - Trojans trying to find identify

Columbus East (Home) - Not sure what East is doing.

Logan (Away) - They are athletic and it is a league game.

Reynoldsburg (Away) - OCC and dangerous (Road game)

Waverly (Away) - Big and athletic. Will pack in and zone us.

DOC (Away) - Could be a trip to Zanesville or Marietta.

GO CAVS!!!

There's no need to scout Chilly...you know they're going to play very agressive, physical defense, and on offense, they're going to try and push the ball in transition all night long. No question they are in shape and can do all of those things...they only thing they haven't figured out just yet is how to play against a zone. With no real outside threat, the deeper they go in the season the more they're going to see it...and if the game is close toward the end? Well, their opponents know what to do as well...can you say 43%? I'm not so sure that's not their season average from the line.

The point I was trying to make and didn't, was that according to one side or the other, depending on who you listen to, everyone blames the refs. I was not going to do that. My post mentioned Warren playing well and we missed free throws. None of my posts have ever been negative. I give credit when credit is due. To those of you who referee, my apologies, my intent was to get off the ref blame game. Re reading my post, I do see where I may have missed what I was trying to point out. Warren played their hearts out and refs should not be part of the conversation no matter how bad anyone felt they were.

I talked to several Warren fans that attended the game fri. night and all of them said that the refs hosed the Cavs really bad, they all said that the cavs could not even move without getting a whistle called against them. Its sad that basketball and other sports has become so controlled by politics that its not even enjoyable to watch anymore.

Its been awhile now since the game was played. Everybody now has got to blame somebody for chillis loss. Its seems everyone wants to blame the refs.

Give Warren credit when credit is due.

They out rebounded, out hustled, out played, made more free thows, and out scored the other team. Game , Set, Match.

Chilly came into the Warrior House a little over confident and by the end of the third quarter, they thought, oh my gosh, we are in a game. Too little to late.

Chilly up 4 with just under 2:00 remaining didn't look good for the Warriors, but they pulled it out. Congrats to the Warren Warriors!!!!!
