Do you think Prater will play better, he just verbally committed to Northwestern so now he can just focus on the games ahead.

Rockets build on their defensive performance and offense finds their groove. Rockets prevail 28-21.

I think Wellston is a pretty good defensive team, but they will have another week of low offensive production against Minford IMO.
Prater is huge and a great leader and as Prater goes the Rockets will go, but they have alot of players who are just young and will improve every week.

I also thought the Rocket defense played fairly well against the Ironmen. The issue I saw in that game on the offensevie side of the ball was that when Prater was not at QB, there was zero threat of a pass. You could see, especially in the second half, that when Prater was at the HB position, everyone on the D keyed on him. IF they can block with Prater at the QB position, then the options become favorable and they should be able to move the ball. Either way, I will be there on Friday night and good luck to the Rockets.

Wellston will be the best team that Minford has played this year. Minford's offense will struggle. It will go either way with the winner winning by a touchdown.

Glad to hear that Prater has committed to Northwestern. Obviously it's very impressive that he will have a chance to play Big Ten football, but the fact that he will be receiving a free education from one of the best universities in the country is simply outstanding. Good luck to him at the next level. The Northwestern education will certainly have him prepared for life after football.

Great post!!!!!

To recieve a free education anywhere is an accomplishment in itself, but from a school like NU says great things about Jaylen as a student.

Given that it's only Week Two, and Minford's Week One opponent was South Point, I don't doubt that Wellston could be the best team that Minford has played this year. However, top to bottom, the kids from Minford play several teams every year that are much stronger than Wellston, so I don't think Wellston being a better opponent than South Point will necessarily equate to Minford's offense struggling. I fully expect Minford to win by multiple scores, then again, I'm just an old guy sitting at a computer, so my opinion isn't worth much on the matter :122249 Good luck to both teams on a well played and injury free game.

I agree with all of the positive things said about Prater's opportunity with Northwestern. It is definitely an outstanding thing. Northwestern is truly one of the top schools in the country and being a part of Big Ten football will add to the amazing experience. Congrats to him.

Congrats to Prater. That is a big achievement. Any local kid playing at the next level should get the respect they deserve.

That being said, I think that Prater is a much better LB than RB (good at both obviously). He made it tough for Jackson to run up the gut on them and looked really fast covering the sweeps and quick hitting passes in the flats against Jackson.

I think that if Minford keys on Prater and makes the other kids beat them, Minford will be fine. Not a knock to the other Wellston players, more of a compliment to Prater as a player.

I think Minford's depth and conditioning will be a winning factor in this one. Looks like 90+ degrees and sunshine friday. I think the Falcons strength and conditioning will take over in the 2nd half. It will be close I don't see it being more than two TD's one way or another.

Having seen both in scrimmages this year I would lean heavily to the Falcons in this one. Minford has a big strong line and a strong quick backfield.
When my Trojans played Wellston they were without a few starters, but they had no answer to Portsmouth offense, and I believe were held to one score. On the same token when Minford played PHS, PHS was without a few key guys, but Minford look very good to me.
My prediction would be Minford 28 Wellston 7

Granted Wellston will be a tougher test than SP....They have something going good over there in Minford. Those kids believe they can win no matter who is on the other side of the ball. Look for the Falcons to win a good, hard fought game. 28-14

I dont know why SOC schools fans tend to root against each other when they play OOC, it;s all about the conference. SOC!

Good luck and good health to both teams.

Hoping for a Wellston win but picking Minford.
