If we lose spring break and all, and still need days, the state will probably wave those days................. :12224

They will take away Spring Break and Memorial Day and work until June 15th. If that isn't enough, they could possibly have school on Saturday.

I might be wrong (ManitouDan could fill me in) but I believe during the blizzard of '78-'79 that they had to do just that...

I was in the 5th grade when this happened and we went to school on Saturdays....it was awful....

We had to go one Saturday during 77-78 school year... wasn't to bad though. It was during March with NCAA tourney going on. Principal was big UK fan. Several of us sat in cafeteria with him watching UK game. :) :) :)
We had several days that year that the state waived. I believe we were only in school maybe 2-3 days during entire month of January and through first week or so of February.

South Point will be using the 6th one tomorrow ( Thurs) This is really getting old. Kids argueing I would rather have them at school. Looks like we will only get a 3 day weekend in Feb.Instead of 4. But i don't see that happening at all. They are calling for more snow next week too!

Raiderball did you have to remind me. I remember going in on Saturday in spring of 1985. One teacher brought in a guitar and another brought in a banjo. We sat in Mr. Meeks room just messing around singing songs. I figure you can guess who was involved. I think it was a parent teacher conference day.

I can picture you guys with Big L watching the CATS!

Enjoy it, if you can...We were lucky to get our power back on today...It went out about 8:30 this morning then came back on about 10:30 and that lasted until around 5 pm when it went out again...We finally got it restored hopefully for good around 8pm tonight...You wouldn't believe what ice can do to trees and combine that with the snow it's a complete mess here....Did you get the ice in Ironton?

You guys will be going til July 4th at this rate.:lol:All kidding aside, our local school here is at 8 right now...They had missed three up until this week and counting the five days missed this week thier up to eight. So they will be using some of their calamity days now. I say for some schools it's the lack of electric as much as the snow and ice at this point.

# 7 for South Point on Friday. THIS IS REALLY GETTING OLD. Luckily the kids have been taking turns going to friends' houses so they are not at each others throat. Took them to Old Farm today. One of the best places to sled in the South Point area. One man who lives there even supplies the kids with hot chocolate every few hours! :-D The ice is hard on the plastic sleds though. I may even get out the old fashion wooden sled so they can see how cools it is!
