Hey Logan Grad what time do they end their second practice? I have been out there the last 2 early afternoon and evenings and never see them,I would like to catch some of their workouts.I know they start at 7am, but I'm not much of an early bird.

bolt, wonder how many players will be playing on both sides of the ball this year? rest is a factor at some positions.cant have a running back trying to hold his head up from being exhausted from playing defense. split it up here and there. a breather is also needed to get some w's. go chiefs!

Mr. Foot, just the point I was trying to make! I believe the ideal size of a DII team should around 50-55 young men in grades 10-12 ! In order to be sucessful in high school football at the DII level, We need at least 16- 18 #1's and we must be able to set on defense our QB, RB, FB, WR and a couple linemen! as was the case the last few years at Logan at the end of the season we had quite a few young men injured. We must as a friend of mine said "The coaches must rercuit them there halls" I undrstand that soccer hurts our numbers, but if we checked other schools of our same size and we will find between 60-70 young men that starts the season Canal Winchester is starting this season with close to 80 in grades 10-12 Info from the Lancaster paper.

They are not supposed to have full contact until the 6th day of practice, that would be this Saturday if Logan even practices on Saturday's not sure.Right now its just helmets and shoulder pads because the OHSAA wants them acclimated.

I'm sure there will be plenty with only 45 players on the roster.Hopefully Schmeltzer will get more time at running back this year to spell McCarty and let him play defense since they need him so much over on that side of the ball.Last year he was a worn out mess by the 4th quarter.

I would like to see Jordan get some time at running back.

It has been a while since I saw a freshmen run as hard as he did last year. Even with the ankle problems.

exactly, with 45 players there has to be more than 11 hard nosed players to get it done. 72, good point also. going both ways most of the time does raise the injury % age. bolt i seen a bunch of players worn out by the 4th quarter the last 2 years. that will drag a win tally way down.

The numbers game is somewhat overblown. My senior year at Logan ( long time ago, lol), we had 44 on the team , did well murdering alot of teams , had a winning season & SEOAL record.

I watch Warren Harding up here ( and some Mooney & Ursuline) and many a year Harding ( D-I) has 50 or less out. Thats because the coach often runs off trouble makers and discipline problems. Also creates some friction with the Board who wish for larger numbers out. Yet Harding lines up and often kicks the crap out of St. Eds, Massillon, Iggy, Mentor, Canton McKinley, Mooney, etc ,who often have 90-100 players dressed.

You really only need around 18 solid players and a few spares who can spell someone hurt for a couple of plays. You have at best, 2-3 really good players, 4-5 good players and a handful who hold their own. I coached a team ranked in Ohio's Top Ten who came with-in a TD of an unbeaten season with 33 players and we played teams two to five times larger in students and double the players. Numbers don't always mean squat !

How do all you Logan faithful feel about that week one matchup with my Golden Gales? from what I'm reading there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of confidence in this coaching staff turning things around.

Should be the best team since the post Amyx era, they have a lot of returning players for a change, but time will only tell, lineman may be on the smallish side this year. How the Gales doing after their disappointing year?

According to the local rag we have 54 young men out again this is according to the rag! Only 6 Sr how disspointing. Soild classes of Jr and Soph. Out of this group the coaching staff needs to find 18-20 very soild football players. Does any know if we will have practice CONTACT Sat. I want to go scout the team!

As Coach Hayes said you need a pair and a spare! So With a team of 45-60 we will be ok!

As also said by Coach Tressel who won numerous National Championships at YSU using the pair and a spare philosophy before going to Ohio St..

If you read the local rag today in sports the editor (Very funny) played the numbers game! Come on close only counts hoseshoes and grenades( hope I spelled it correct) As an old coach once said a loss is a loss!
