Ok, so after the top 3 seeds in that D3 draw, how in the world did they decide the seeding?

Alexander(3-10-1) gets the 4. For what? Beating North Adams(2-9-3) who's only wins were over winless West Union. Or maybe for beating Eastern Pike(2-8-1) who had one of their two wins handed to them via forfeit. I get that they beat Webster, but how do they get the 4? They tied Belpre(7-6-1) why doesn't Belpre get the home game? Strength of schedule is important, but when you don't beat any of the good teams you play, you shouldn't be rewarded for it.

Zane Trace(3-10-0) played a similar schedule and BEAT Alexander, but they get the 9? This whole thing makes no sense,

So NB is the #8 and st joe is the #3 but new boston just blanked sj 3-0? None of these seedings make sense.

St joe will be in trouble when webster comes to town.

And you cant complain about alexanders wins. st joe has 9 wins but 2 were chesapeake, 2 were rose hill, and 1 was west.

Sorry but those seedings have to be wrong.

goUK- I didn't look deeply into St. Joe's, I just saw the overall record and assumed that they at least had a few good ones, but yes, that one is bad as well.

Did you forget that SJ beat New Boston earlier in the year by a similar score? SJ has beaten Chesapeake twice, Rose Hill twice, West, New Boston, Lincoln County, WV, Elliott Co, KY, and SP.

New Boston has 3 other wins besides the win over SJ with those being against Chesapeake, West and Eastern. If you believe that NB should have been ranked higher with 4 wins I would have to disagree.

To say that the seeding are "wrong" tells me that you may not get how the seedings work. The coaches of all the teams vote on the seeds so it is just a matter of opinion but can't really be "wrong".

yes that is true, but st joe only has one real win and that is new boston. beating south webster is way more prestigous than new boston.(which alexander did) And sj beat new boston in august, that was a long time ago, new boston beat st joe in october, so as of now new boston is better than st joe.

So one win on a team's home field automatically makes them a better team? Maybe better on that night but not necessarily better in my opinion.

i agree that one game doesnt make your seeding, but st joe only has 1 (prestigous) win, and that one win was NB which has a losing record, maybe nobody deserved the 3 seed, but we will see when webster plays them. All of the teams in the sectional should have to play at least 6 or 7 of the other teams and it would fix this mess.

but SP tied NB @ NB

Webster beat NB 3-1 @ NB

SJ only has one win? That is just an opinion. The fact is they have 9 wins and all the coaches that attended the seeding got to judge those 9 wins against everyone else's wins.

If SJ plays South Webster, they may win and they may lose but you can't convince me that they are totally undeserving of their #3 seed.

Forcing the teams to play 6 or 7 games within their own sectional doesn't exactly work because schedules are in place before the OHSAA and the districts decide who plays in which sectional. Besides, of SJ's 16 games they will play the following within their sectional; Wheelersburg, SP twice, Chesapeake twice, NB twice. 7 games.

So your telling me that the sectionals change every year? I dont think that happens. Will they change every now and then? Of course. And i said 6 or 7 teams, not games.

I think there are changes each year. The previous 2 seasons I believe SJ played in a sectional that had only 7 teams in it and this year SJ is in a sectional with 11 teams. Last year, SJ played West and Clay during the sectional tournament and neither team is in the same sectional as SJ this year. I also believe that SJ was not in the same sectional last year as ZT, Alexander, South Webster, Minford, Belpre or Piketon.

In my opinion, that would be too many changes to anticipate to make a schedule including 6 or 7 teams from that sectional.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion about the seeding but I don't think it really matters. If a team is going to advance to the district finals, they will have to beat one of the better teams in the area to get there at some point.

You really can't schedule towards who you will play in your sectional, IMO, as it changes yearly. Zane Trace dropped from D2 to D3 and with that, they crammed 3 sectionals into 2 now.

It changes all the time, there used to be a bunch of 4-5 sectionals with 2 winners moving to the districts and it seems to evolve all the time.

The only thing you can do with your schedule is adjust it to your talent level, if you know it's going to be a down year, challenge your kids, but still give them some games that they can be competitive in and maybe get some confidence going into the future. If you know it's going to be a great year, challenge your kids to get ready for the tournament run.

seeding in the soccer tourney is challenging because everyone plays in the tourney. after the top 3-4 seeds the records fall off the map. unfortunately for d2 schools to move forward the difference between a 1 and 2 seed is great. however, for the most part it is pretty much the same process each year and it balances out. regardless, it tourney time and gotta get ready.

Records shouldnt mean anything. It should be based on mutual opponents. Flat out it looks like the coaches made a very odd and questionable seedings. Oh well.
