Peebles is now 11-3 with the win over Paint Valley Saturday night. Two losses were to undefeated North Adams and the other loss was by one point to a 2 loss Albany Alexander team at the Convo in a game Peebles led for over 31 minutes.

I would love to see the coaches ballots made public as the USA Today Coaches College Football ballot is. I bet we would see a difference.

I believe all the coaches say their vote out loud in front of the other coaches. They start with the 1 seed and everyone gets a vote, the team with the most votes gets it. I am sure coaches remember who votes for who.

Portsmouth's 78-72 win over Northwest gave the Trojans an 8-6 record heading into the draw today.........PHS is now 6-0 outside the SEOAL.......and finished with a perfect 4-0 mark vs. the SOC, including wins over Wheelersburg and Minford.........but I still think we're headed for an #8 or #9...........

It is kind of neat. In a small high school classroom, each team is written on the chalkboard. Each coach goes up and fills out their wins on the board under each division. They go in alphabetical order, sometimes abc, then the next year zyx. They ask each team first who is the 1 seed and in order each coach announces their vote as the director keeps tabs. They do this for all teams. It is fun to watch coaches filling in their brackets and mulling over who to vote for. Trying to do the math in their heads as to who to vote for to stay away from and such.

I think it was obvious that not one wanted to play PHS and Minford and North Adams got it handed to them again! I hate to see PHS and Minford go head to head again. But both teams need to consider the voting a complement because the other "big dogs" didn't want to play them. I hope who ever wins the 8/9 game kicks the crap out of a SVC team if they get the chance!

I don't see anyone in the shl or soc kicking the crap out of anyone in the svc...alot of good teams right up front in this sectional this year...If you think your team is a CHAMPION does it matter who you play....PLAY HARD PLAY SMART WIN OR GO HOME

CCC...I'm not sure what your expectations were from the draw? Have you not read this post from top to bottom....there are no easy games, and anyone from say 4-11, could have easily been in any order. For the most part, I'd say this is the closest thing to a "correct" drawing that I've seen yet. I'm not saying that North Adams don't have a tough matchup, but they get a bye, and and extra couple of days to prepare for the winner. If you look at records, then I think it's pretty close...As far as your words about the SVC...Most of them will be playing each other to get out of the sectional...Any way you look at it, this is the toughest sectional by far we've seen for some time!

Here are the DIII brackets with times and locales.

http://www.seodab.org/brackets/2009/boysbb/div3.htm

A lot can happen but how about a North Adams/Portsmouth winner vs. Wheelersburg in the District Semis or a rematch between Peebles and Alexander if the seeds hold.

Kind of funny that Peebles just kicked the crap out of Paint Valley and Eastern Brown just kicked the crap out of Southeastern on their home floor. LOL

thefan, yeah that is what I was thinking! lol

Well the brackets are set, but there is still plenty of bball left before the tourney run. I for one am anxious about some possible seeding upsets. Will type these in on some more thought!

Good luck to the Streaks. This sectional will be a fun one to watch. Hope the wife lets me out of the house to catch a few games. There will be a few 'upsets', I'm sure.

No surprise here that Portsmouth got the #9 seed........Minford will be a tough matchup for the Trojans........they gave PHS all they could handle at Portsmouth.......we outscored them 15-5 in the 4th quarter to win 56-48........since then Forrest Johnson has been starting and has made the Trojans a better team......he had 23 points vs. Northwest, and 3 of the last 4 games has had double figures. Anthony Williams has averaged 19 ppg and 11 rpg for the year, while Tory Horne is averaging 13+ ppg.

I know Portsmouth is very capable of beating both Minford and North Adams, but we just simply have to be more consistent, especially on the defensive end. It's really tough to get a read on the Trojans sometimes, because our SEOAL record is not good at 2-6 but we are undefeated outside the league at 6-0.

I see from the seedings in D3 and D2 that Portsmouth beat 4 teams that ended up getting a higher seed than the Trojans........Minford an #8, South Point a #6, Wheelersburg a #4, and Greenfield McClain a #4.

Portsmouth has games remaining vs. #3 Ironton, #1 Chesapeake, and #3 Warren....

GO TROJANS!!!

Taking a look at the brackets and not disrespecting anyones records but, Piketon has to be licking they're lips a little. With they're talent they should be a lock to the districts. They then have a possible tough match up with Ironton. That would be worth the ticket price!!

On the other side, I can't believe North Adams is super happy with Portsmouth in a 9 seed! How does Minford 10-5 get an eight seed? Did New Boston beat Minford heads up? I can't believe they are a seven in front of Minford and Porstmouth. That bottom bracket is wide open.

I would say everybody is loving the possible Portsmouth/North Adams meeting. If Portsmouth comes to play.....could be a real good game!
