Re: Week 10: Nelsonville-York (9-0) at Athens (9-0)
Congrats Bulldogs on a 10-0 season, home playoff game (hopefully) and the outright TVC-Ohio Championship.

Great job both teams. Looks like NY will have a long road trip ahead of them now with west and Grandview winning. This loss is going to hurt them in many ways. Athens wins the title, and now gets to stay at home next week. NY is going to have ALOT of work to do next week to mentally get ready for a playoff game after today.

Would love to see Athens-JAckson, that be awesome for the region considering that NY is going probably 2+ hours away. Some may stay just to go to that game.

Prolly 5th seed and travel to Ports West but I am sure someone more knowledgable will have that updated ASAP.

Going there is going to be a killer for them. Big strong physical team after playing athens like they did. Coach Boston and the Bucks are going to have their hands full on the road like that. Rough way to end such a promising season.

Congratulations to the Bulldogs. Best of luck next week. You are headed into unchartered territory for your program. Hope you have a huge turnout for your first playoff game.

You know indianabuck, I've been holding back but why don't you let NY play the game before you count us out. I mean, if we played Athens that tough we should be fine unless of course you don't think that was a quality win for Athens.

Is it true athens added a kicker to the team for this game?

Re: Week 10: Nelsonville-York (9-0) at Athens (9-0)
I probably jumped the gun too early, but never listened to the second half due to no radio. They played better it sounded like, but next week, they MAY not get that opportunity to come back especially against an unfamiliar opponent on the road.

Uhmm, NY96 has always posted the updated win/loss record. Win or lose right after the game.

Re: Week 10: Nelsonville-York (9-0) at Athens (9-0)
My thoughts ----
The positive -
One of the greatest games of all-time. This one will surely be talked about 20, 50 years from now.
NY shot itself in the foot in the first half, falling behind 21-0, but showed heart to come back in the second half and take it to overtime.
This game makes me believe that Athens is NY's true #1 rival. Sorry Trimble - if you ever were NY's #1 rival, those days are long gone.
Teams that go 10-0 don't necessarily dominate in the playoffs. A good example is Wheelersburg. The Pirates often lose to Ironton, yet go on to have long, successful playoff runs. The Buckeyes can still put together a nice playoff run. In fact, Athens could have shown NY some weaknesses that can now be corrected before the first playoff game. It is better to be exposed BEFORE the playoffs and correct those mistakes than it is to be unchallenged and shocked in a one-and-done playoff game.
Even though the 2011 Buckeyes will not join the ranks of the five undefeated Buckeye teams of years past, the 2011 Buckeyes can still make its own history with a nice playoff run.
I'm pretty sure the all-time attendance record at Rutter Field was shattered tonight.
A positive for Athens - the Bulldogs got it done in the end. They didn't choke like in years past.
Even if Athens is twice as big as Nelsonville-York, this is still a great rivalry game.
The negative -
If NY plays in Week 11 like they did in the first half, the Buckeyes could very well be one and done in the playoffs.
If Athens plays in Week 11 like they did in the second half, the Bulldogs could very well be one and done in the playoffs.
And finishing off on a positive -
If NY plays in Week 11 like they did in the second half, the Buckeyes could have a long playoff run.
If Athens plays in Week 11 like they did in the first half, the Bulldogs could have a long playoff run.
Good luck to both teams in Week 11 against whichever team you may play.
