WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
Re: WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
Please enlighten how Ironton will destroy the OVC.
I would really like to see the logic in making such a statement.

This is an interesting turn of events. With Portsmouth rumored to have joined the league, could it be the OVC is looking to split their league much like the SOC. Could the OVC be looking to add not only Ptown and Itown but also Jackson, GAHS and others?

Ironton a surprise there makes sense Geographically speaking and if gallia and portsmouth join be a good move can only help make that league stronger in all sports.
But if they split the OVC into 2 divisions then what they will be required to try to get a few KY schools to join maybe? Like reaceland and fairview for the smaller division along with Symmess Valley.
Alot of ways to go but a lot of work to do to go that route.

Re: WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
if this is true. they better add more beef, ironton would run roughshod through the ovc. and maybe struggle to make the playoffs. unless the ovc is adding people like portsmouth, etc. i see no benefit coming from this move at all. the gates will suffer in my opinion, if ironton stays at it's current strength, people are not gonna travel from say proctorville to ironton , to see the dragons get mauled from limb to limb.

i'm being real here. sizewise perfect fit. but the last 2 times coal grove played ironton the combined score was 100-0, ironton. god love south point, they played us forever, but what are the kids learning when it's 60-0, at the half. i just don't see this as the answer, without throwing the ovc teams under the bus.i mean no disrespect, i really don't . i'm just being real here.

Re: WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
ironton needs the type of schedule we had this year, every year-------------regardless where we gotta go to find these games.we got 2 scenic greyhounds, go where the games are.i wished ironton could get back in the seoal , i didn't want them to leave, even if it's football, basketball only. the soc makes way more sence to me and stiffer competition.
Re: WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
Ironton is in a bad location when it comes to playing area teams that keeps them going to the play offs.
Going to have to put some miles on the buses.
Need to keep Portsmouth.Jackson ,Chillicothe and The Burg on the schedule.
Might want to go in to the Cincinnati area and play a couple well known schools.
Get Wahama and one of the Parkersburg schools and one good Kentucky school.

I guess if we are just thinking football I can see everyones point. But for all sports it makes a great deal of sense.

-----------------------------------------------------------noreply , i wished ironton football .com was still up. we've been every where playing teams,i'm not sure what the answer is but i know the ovc would not want the fighting tigers on their football schedule, nobody wins there.noreply66 wrote:Ironton is in a bad location when it comes to playing area teams that keeps them going to the play offs.

Stop the transfers and I bet Ironton comes back to earth as in OVC level. After next years senior class the Tigers are very average in talent. I believe the OVC should wait 5 years after Lutz hangs up his coaching before bringing the Tigers into fold, by then the transfers from CG, SP, and RH will have stopped due to the MS teams beating up the Tigers year after year. Right now, the kids who beat you in MS transfer to play for you in HS. Course this is why Ironton is begging to get in the OVC, the old days are gone..............

Ironton already rapes the other school's talent in the county. Once they run it up a few times on weaker team in the league there will be teams looking other places..................maniac66 wrote:Please enlighten how Ironton will destroy the OVC.

Re: WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
Argue??? It is a fact after next year Ironton does not have the usual talent that they have had in the past. 2 of their top 4 players that are not Juniors or Seniors have transfered in from the weak OVC. Course this is happening all over Lawrence county, the football is nowhere near the caliber of 5 to 10 years ago. Fact is 2 of the higher ups at Ironton wants this move (not Lutz) for all sports in consideration. Picking up teams like Oak Hill should be a signal to the rest of you....the Tigers of yesterday would never have picked up a D5 team that will be lucky to win 2-3 games and instead would have waited and dug up a higher quality opponent.

Re: WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
Footballfan has a good point. From the past 2 seasons playoff teams there were 44 potential different starters. 1 was a transfer in high school from an OVC school. Needless to say Ironton would not had the success they've had if it wasn't for that transfer. Again, good point footballfan. Your obviously very knowledgeable on Ironton football and the reasons for there success.

Re: WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
As for my opinion on transfers, 1 kid can make an impact, esp. when he starts MLB and your team has several games in which you win by less than 7 points. Do you beat Gallia without him? How about Amanda? Maybe even lose to Simon Kenton. Don't worry, there will be several starters from other schools in due time. A few years ago, RH landed 3 transfers themselves from Ironton...we all know how that played out. RH made the playoffs while Ironton fell short. While one team gains talent, another loses a starter.
Look, I don't want to argue...just saying your team MAY be joining the OVC. I'm done, have a good Christmas.

who would want arrogant ironton people like ytb and most others in the league. i wouldn't even give them the time of day, they think they are better than everybody else, and i'm not talking fb, but as individuals. keep them independent so the columbus schools can keep whipping up on them, and ytb and the crew can't keep running their mouths.

A lot of transfers like to win and that Happens at Ironton

Re: WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
All we heard all year from blubber mouth was Ironton's "BEAST" schedule. What was Ironton's signature win this year? A down GAHS? A down Trojan team? A down Pirate team? Russell? A very down Chillicothe team? LOL!!!! Beast schedule! All the "BEAST" handed it to blubber mouths team. The true Ironton faithful realize times have changed on the river. Things aren't quite as grand. The team will compete but they aren't the team of the 70s/80s/90s. Once Lutz retires, the mystique that draws kids from other districts will be no more. The Hornets will be the benefactors of blubber mouths teams fall from greatness!!!! LOL!!!! The HORNETS will become the BEAST in Lawrence County!!

as far as kids transferring i dont see how anyone can fault kids for wanting to get the best experience possible out of their high school football experience. they want to play for a great program and that will still be there no matter who the coach is. regardless, my senior year i looked to my right and left and saw former eagles and bills, not hornets and redmen.
