All the schools in the SOC I play South Gallia in everything except maybe Western and Eastern...in which they should still get in. As was said before to go to three divisions they are going to have to add more than just two teams unless they went 3 divisions in all sports but football

I just don't see getting all of these schools to agree on it? Who decides who belong in the 3 divisions? Some 4 schools would have to move up? Some D3 schools would have to play in the top division? Who decides who stays in the middle?

Too many variables!

Personally, I would love to see three divisions. The SOC1 as is, then add Portsmouth, Ironton, and jackson adn add Burg, Waverly, and Northwest to create the SOC3.
Jusdt my thoughts.

Leave them in the SOC2?

I don't know. The problem is no school (other than Burg) is really strong in all of the sports. West could compete with the big guys in football....but then get killed in everything else.

That is why I just don't see it happeneing. You can't have schools compete in different levels of the SOC based upon what they are good at?

Eaglesnest,

Could you give me some reasons, besides travel, that you would not want to see SG in the SOC? Just curious.

Well SG would be in the smaller SOC if they got in but they have consistantly had good teams and have played with the SOC teams that they have had on there schedule since 04 in basketball and football.

Dave Frantz, Northwest AD, stated in the PDT that the SOC had to have 2 meetings after the inital request to join the conference. The first meeting has already taken place so another SOC meeting will have to be held before a vote can be taken.

Someone asked about Manchester joining the SOC in an earlier thread. IMO, Manchester will not leave their league to join the SOC just because of football. They can remain independent in football but remain where they are in all other sports because of travel distance.

Besides travel, which is the main reason, you also have to look at the number of teams that creates in the league. All SOC1 basketball schools would then play 16 league game..leaving only 4 non-league. Eastern Pike always plays in the Holiday Classic at Waverly (2 games)...now we are down to 2 non-league games. Eastern has a good non-league tradition with several other schools.

Point is: Eastern makes good use of their 6 existing non-league games by "playing up." Adding SG would water that back down.

Again, just one poor farmers opinion.
