I understand that these girls are working hard,

but the varsity team looks very much outmatched every time they take the court. If the starting lineup of Brooks and the four juniors isn't working, then CHANGE IT UP!!! and do it before the first half is over! Games are much easier to win when you go in down single digits at the half, insteading of trying to mount doubledigit comebacks every outing.

Hopefully the girls will continue to play hard, despite the losing and maybe the wins will roll in.

Not bashing anyone at all....but there's a big difference between a 5'6-5'8 postplayer and one close to 6'...WHS' post players give it their all, but it's hard to make up 1/2 foot at times...

however....I did mean to say "average-sized" post player and not "average"...sorry for implying anything other than encouragement for the team

WHS76 - You need to take whatever past injustices you perceive out on an adult like me, not on high school girls. Every girl on the team deserves to be on the team and deserves our support. If you think otherwise you may be a basketball fan but you do not know basketball.

WHS79, we must be watching 2 different teams. I'm watching WHS girls basketball
team. Not being a parent of one of the girls.I can watch the game objectively. If you knew basketball you would be maybe saying (not thinking) the same thing.
Good luck to your daughter.

Good Luck Warriors!
Happy Holidays

None of the people posting on this forum can be objective...we're all here because at some point, we were tied to this program and we all want to see it be successful.

It may not be successful as we want right now, but all programs turn around in time.

WHS76 - We are watching the same team, but I'm watching as an adult who considerers all the other pressures put upon student-athletics from other sources.
I don't think this board should be a source of pressure to these girls. If you have been through this 6 times I would think you would have more compassion for these children/young adults. Thank you for the good luck expressed but my son is the one that needs it, thanks.

Warren girls - You do need to play as a team, especially on the defensive end.

Good luck at your next game.

Got to watch the New Lex. game. Overheard a conversation by a couple of fellows in the stands and one made this comment: "Their getting out Hustled & Out Muscled." I must concur, NL played MVL style of ball, they are going to beat you up then beat you. The lady warriors do not play well when someone plays physical ball with them. The JV on the otherhand is a more physical group, but they seem to throw the ball all over the place, but make up for it in hustle. It seems Warren is playing slow, the ball is going to where it is suppose to go, just two seconds to late and NL just jumped in front of it. I have only seen Warren twice this year and this looks like a different group on the floor, some personal agendas maybe. Can't put a finger on it, just seems different somehow. I listened to the staff, as I was sitting close enough to hear them in the huddle and the staff did everything they could to get some fire lit in the players, and did it in a clam professional way.
I know Warren is a team of guards basically and will be outmatched size wise on many occasions, when the freshman was put in she hustled her behind off, did put up a ill-advised shot and threw the ball away, but in her defense she lit a spark and the last few minutes were exciting. Had the Warriors played like this earlier the outcome could have been very different. I hope the young athletes keep their heads up and keep moving forward, they will get better as the season goes. Just my humble observations, Go Warriors.

I have been at several of the Lady Warriors games and everyone has posted their ideas good and bad about what they (the girls and the coaches) should do. I think what they need to do is simply go back to the basics. A screen and roll, something I learned as a third grader, if done properly is something that will score most of the time. I noticed that there were few to no screens set in the Lady Warriors offense. Also playing defense down in a stance and staying with their girl. Talking to each other should be the heart of a defense. Calling out screens telling where the shooters are and letting your other team mates know where you are and you have their back if they get beat. Defense is all out, offense is when you can take a little breather.
Good luck ladies in all your future endeavors. :122245 I will be watching!

Varsity snaps the slump with a 48-26 win, led 23-12 at the half. I'm curious as to why Coach Werry put his varsity starters in at the beginning of the fourth quarter with a 17 point lead.

JV wins 29-23, but it really wasnt that close. Athens is improved over last time.

Bulldog JV missed a lay-up at the one minute mark that would've tied the game. Seemed pretty close to me. Mallory Brooks was the best player on the floor in the varsity game. Good win for the Lady Warriors.

I didn't think Marietta had a winning record?

maybe Marietta doesn't have a winning record. I saw them win their Tourney around Thanksgiving and that put them 2-0 at the time. Very talented team.

Just a note,

The Warren--Fort Frye girls game is still on Monday, refs couldn't change their schedules.
Sorry for the misinformation.

Just checked, Marietta does have a losing record. Think they have only won one other game besides their tournament at Thanksgiving. I guess the Wildt's are finding out that it's not single A West Virginia basketball.

I didn't know Warren was playing in the Fiesta Bowl...lol!
