WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
Re: WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
This started out as ironton's schedule and now it goes to who plays for Ironton.
The simple fact is do you want to play for a team that is in playoffs almost every year?
Or play for a team that goes 2-8 3-7 and once maybe say every 6-10 years makes playoffs?
Chesapeake is the class of the OVC Coal Grove is behind them.
Yes the OVC is a down league but Ironton is looking at going Div.5 in a few years and may yet help them.
So before you go bragging about transfers helping Ironton maybe these schools should try to keep their players them self's by learning to win Rock Hill had one of the best QB's around how did it help them?
South Point had a group of players walk off the team?
So it is what it is kids want to play for a winner and Ironton is a winner do we win the state every year no but we do give the kids a chance to play in the playoffs and have the dream of winning the state.
Until the other schools can do that Coal Grove included kids will want to play for Ironton and do not believe that when Lutz retires that Ironton will fall on it's face I believe they are looking into the future and know who they want to replace him and keep the winning going.
So where Ironton joins the OVC is a wait and see thing but it is aesier to hate a good program when your program just stinks.

Re: WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
chesapeake is not the class of the ovc. cg has won or shared the conference 4 out of the last 5 years.
Re: WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
I am including other sports in that to like basketball where is Coal Groves other sports at compared to Chesapeake.rico suave wrote:chesapeake is not the class of the ovc. cg has won or shared the conference 4 out of the last 5 years.
Ironton has evolved to where it just isn't A football school there Basketball team is a good team every year now Baseball team is decent.
Where Rock hill had a good Baseball team this past year but nothing else and ect...........
So I can see Ironton competing in the OVC for all sports not just Football they play everyone in those other sports.
So when I said Chesapeake was the class of the OVC I meant it in all sports and not just Football and not as a disrespect to the other teams.
Chesapeake had a great Basketball team last year and a great team in Football this year and should have won their first round playoff game and their baseball team was competive.
I have nothing against any OVC school would I like to see Ironton in it as well as Portsmouth and Gallia yes will it happen who knows.
Be easier to drive to south point and coal grove and rock hill than to Columbus Plain City ect.....
And Ironton can still schedule up for the point teams if wanted.
Like Ironton or not but I think the OVC would be good for all teams with Ironton in it and for all sports.

At least a couple of you are willing to admit part of Ironton's past success was built around transfers. All you need to do now is educate some of your fan base so they don't come on this site and whine about northern teams doing the same.
We'll see what the future holds. 8)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------hey this is ole blubbermouth. i thought i made it clear , i was not trying to diss the ovc at all. in fact i follow coal grove and rock hill very closely. if i offended anyone i'm apologizing now. i was justr stating facts, about recent scores.even in the 1 year coach triplett was at the helm of the tigers, and he had a beast schedule then, check the schedule out. he had a winning season in the seoal. and made the playoffs. my point is ironton football is not gonna die, when coach lutz retires.the seoal that year was amazing, it was the year ironton lost the last game to logan, 7-0. i just don't think football wise, the ovc is ready for ironton, geographically is makes great sence. i just don't see big gates as a result, of the difference in level of playhornetsfan wrote:At least a couple of you are willing to admit part of Ironton's past success was built around transfers. as far as open enrollment, everybody is doing it across the state for whatever reason.of course ironton has had some great transfers, but they have also stepped into one of the winningest football programs in the state, to do so.people forget ironton has the second most playoff appearences in the state.to say rock hill made it one year ironton didn't is like putting lipstick on a pig.

Re: WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
and ironton was only 2 kids this year away from d5, most ovc schools are considerably bigger anyway.we'll probably fall into actual numbers for d5 next year. but are locked into d4 , 1 more year.
try it one more way. ironton lost close games this year to jonathon alder 17-0.
and had jackson down, with one minute left to go before losing.
in your honest opinion, which ovc school could replicate that.
not to mention play that schedule and make it to the 3rd round of the playoffs. since nobody did that playing the ovc schedule. i am not trying to argue either.just asking for response.i hate arguing. but i'm able to respond without calling names. i'll not stoop to that level.

Re: WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
and i was wanting to ask another question, but i think the answer is obvious. how is it that with new schools across the whole county, fancy new turf fields n all. that these open enrollment students head to ironton.
winning football games does matter. at least at ironton, it ain't about who's daddy is on what board, if you can play------------you will, the perfect example this year was cody roberts.
and to those in the ovc wondering why your crowds were so small this year,
the people were not out of town, babysitting or at the mall, like you may have been told. they were at the ironton football games , home n away.wearing orange n black.now some may take that as abrasive, i deal in facts, period.i don't speculate, i shoot straight from the hip, always have, always will. somebody mentioned us beating a weak wheelersburg team some posts back. funny the pirates, they blasted the team they are defending. if i'm correct the only two games wheelersburg lost was to ironton, and lucasville valley.both multiple playoff games this year.
my advice if you wanna lock horns, get some facts first.as my ole pappy once told me, don't back up to a load you can't pull.

Re: WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
and it was great seeing all my ole buddies from rock hill this year at the ironton games. i spect the whole rock hill national little league was at our games this year, people i ain't seen since i coached out at rock hill. in youth sports. that attributed to great crowds this year for the fighting tigers, home and away. and playoffs.
call it what you want, ironton played 25 games in the last 2 years. i guess getting to the playoffs, and winning, really does matter.you wanna be abrasive i can do it better than anybody, i done forgot more about doing it than ya'll.i merely was making an observation, about matching up with ironton.
actually i started the topic, it was asking if anybody knew what ironton's schedule looked like for 2012.that's all, then a moderator started putting cupcakes on my posts, then it turned into this.
sorry ironton fan's if you read back through here, you'll see i said nothing out of line. i simply am a fighting tiger fan, nothing more , nothing less.

Re: WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
If Ironton wants to join the OVC for everything, but football thatd be awesome. The OVC would be a good fit for our other teams. Now for football I think it would be a bad fit. Yes these teams are trying to improve and they are scheduling up, but they still have a long way to go. Peake is good about every 5 or 6 years. Rock Hill has fallen and Im not sure when they will become the team they once were. South Point well see Rock Hill. As for Fairland the last time I remember them being good was when they had Worm Leep. Coal Grove since Coach Lucas has came back has once again become the dominate force in the OVC, but we still see in the scrimmage at the beginning of the season that they cannot hang with Ironton.
If Portsmouth and Galliapolis would join as well it might be a different story, but without those teams its the same old OVC.
When you look at transfers if you look a lot come in at the junior high level in 7th grade. You can probably count 10 guys who transfered in during their high school years. So in reality if you play somewhere from 7th on your not a transfer you are a member of the team so to speak.

You deal in ignorance.
You're an embarrassment to an entire community. The stuff written by you is garbage. The only thing you have is the past of former athletes. By your own admission, you didn't make it past your soph year.
Is this why you became a little or BIG cheerleader?
Give me a "T"......

South Point program could change with the right coaching.
Re: WHAT DOES IRONTON'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE FOR 2012
you could put any 2 teams together from the ovc, play ironton's schedule and that team would likely be 0-10
