Re: Cleveland Browns 2014
It feels to me like the coaching staff is throwing in the towel on the season. Bringing Manziel in to create a spark is one thing but you put your chips on Hoyer and were in contention for a playoff spot. Now to not name the starter until Wednesday and entertain going to Manziel tells me we are in the experimentation phase for the Browns. Four games to see what you have going into the offseason. Johnny ain't leading them to the playoffs and the veterans know that. So don't do it and talk like you're still contending 'cause no one's buying it. Not me, anyway.

Re: Cleveland Browns 2014
I agree too! 4 games is not enough to gauge how good Manziel will be. So many of these QBS look really good at first then the defense finally figures them out and they don't look so good.Hoyer takes all the blame for most of their recent failures, but I have to wonder where they would be right now without him.Recent years suggest they would have been talking about the draft a long time ago.And Sunday's game was against the second ranked defense in the league.Pettine is supposed to announce who it will be Wednesday which means he is probably leaning towards Manziel.I am curious to see how Manziel will do, but while still in the playoff hunt ride with the horse that got you there.Hoyer is gone after this season anyway and Manziel will have all of next year to show his wares and flash the money

I think it is the right choice. If you put Johnny in this week the game is up. You cant go back once you make that move. Hoyer's agent would be on his speed dialer immediately if he isn't already. I'm accepting the fact that Manziel is going to be our starter next year if Hoyer doesn't turn into Aaron Rodgers these last four games. I hope it works but I don't think Johnny is a pro QB. And Brian will find somebody who'll give starting money. The General wrote:Its Hoyer. Right move for now.

Wow surprised :122246 Nice to see Pettine didn't cave to all the outside pressure. Now when they are pretty much done from playoff contention a change might not be so bad but we still won't know about Manziel until after next year whether he plays good or bad.Need a bigger sample. The Browns probably won't be able to get a top flite QB in this years draft with their and Buffalo's record so it looks like they are stuck with Manziel for awhile.

Re: Cleveland Browns 2014
For the sake of the locker room, I wish Pettine had come right out and said Hoyer was going to start right after Sunday's game. He is your man for 2014. Manziel could wait until next year. Yea, the whole pulling the goalie thing would've been fine if coach made it clear that was a spot situation. Bottom line, the OL has to open holes, Gordon has to become the Gordon of 2013, and the RBs need to quit putting the ball on the ground. It is a team fail, not a QB fail. There is plenty of blame to go around. Hoyer is not going to win games despite the offense but he can be a good steward of a functional offense.

Re: Cleveland Browns 2014
....having said that, it would not surprise me to see the Browns win against the Colts in Cleveland this Sunday. Not calling the upset but it could be a very fluid game. If they do lose with a bad offensive showing, all bets are off for the last 3 games.

Colts have had a few bad games this year where they lost and gave up a lot of pointsdazed&confused wrote:....having said that, it would not surprise me to see the Browns win against the Colts in Cleveland this Sunday. Curious! Fox is NFC and last time I checked these two teams were AFC.Eagle82 wrote:FOX 28 Columbus and FOX 11 Huntington shows they are going to have Cleveland and Indy on.
Re: Cleveland Browns 2014
I heard somewhere the reason they did this was they thought Johnny Football would be starting, cha ching! Why would CBS give up the rights? Fox must have shelled out a ton of money and then Pettine drops the bomb on them Wednesday

Re: Cleveland Browns 2014
Maybe Fox didn't have to shell out a bunch of money

Re: Cleveland Browns 2014
Wow this makes way too much sense for the money grubbing NFL. I'd think they would try to force everyone to buy DirecTV and the Ticket.
Re: Cleveland Browns 2014
I still got to wonder if this would have been crossflexed if not for the talk of Johnny starting after last Sunday's game.
