The Jacksonville Jaguars injury report is longer than it's losing streak, and that's saying something. Cleveland is better off, but not by much. The playoff hopeful Browns and the Jaguars will both have numerous backups on the field, plus a couple in the coaches booth when they play on Sunday. The Browns (7-3) will be without five players, including defensive end Myles Garrett, because of Covid-19 testing and contact tracing. Defensive ends Joe Jackson and Porter Gustin, linebacker Sione Takitaki and fullback Andy Janovich also won't play because of coronavirus.

Cleveland Browns chief of staff Callie Brownson will handle game day duties for Cleveland's tight ends on Sunday in Jacksonville, a first in team history for a female. Brownson, who was hired by Browns coach Kevin Stefanski shortly after he came to Cleveland earlier this year, will fill in for coach Drew Petzing. He did not travel to Florida with the team after his wife gave birth to the couples first child on Saturday. Brownson is one of a handful of female coaches currently working in the NFL. Her normal duties stretch across Cleveland's entire coaching staff.

When Browns QB Baker Mayfield is in the driver's seat, it's probably best to buckle up. The Browns knocked off the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-25, on Sunday afternoon, moving to 8-3 and for the time being solidifying a hold on a potential playoff spot. Mayfield most certainly keeps things interesting for the Browns. He can throw a playing card into the middle of a deck of cards, but he can also have trouble hitting the ocean from a boat. Thanks to some great catches by Jarvis Landry, and again some very determined running by Nick Chubb, th e Browns were able to come out with the win. The Browns defense left a lot to be desired today, and the fact that they were missing some key players probably had a lot to do with it. About the only time that they were able to get any pressure on the Jaguars QB, you just knew that the Zebra's would get involved. That also was not the only call that seemed to go against the Browns today. Next week's game against the Titans will be a very tough game, the Browns will have to play a very good game to come out with a win.

The Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said that defensive end Myles Garrett should be cleared to return from the reserve/Covid-19 list on Wednesday. Garrett has missed the last two games after testing positive for Covid-19, and the coach thinks his return would be a shot in the arm for the whole team. The news isn't as promising for cornerback Denzel Ward, as coach Stefanski said it's unlikely that Ward will be back this week.

The Browns have added a safety to their roster a day after safety Ronnie Harrison injured his shoulder in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Browns have claimed safety Tedric Thompson off of waivers on Monday. Thompson had been waived by the Kansas City Chiefs over the weekend. Thompson had 13 tackles in 8 games for Kansas City before being waived. He has spent the last three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks and had 80 tackles, 3 interceptions, a forced fumble and three fumble recoveries in 29 games for Seattle.

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has been activated from the reserve/Covid-19 list. Fullback Andy Janovich also came off the reserve list this week. Defensive end Porter Gustin, defensive end Joe Jackson and linebacker Sione Takitaki remain on the list. The Browns also announced that they placed safety Ronnie Harrison on injured reserve. Harrison hurt his shoulder on the first play of Sunday's win over the Jaguars.

That game Sunday was waaaayyyy too difficult! Should have been much easier! Lucky I got any hair left from Mayfield's gimme missed throws to the officals making things difficult. I know one thing they won't win this week if they make it that difficult for themselves. Garrett coming back will be huge a lift. Got to be a cleaner game this week or they will be 8-4. The running game was pretty good but got stopped on a critical 4th down. Mayfield had a great game with no picks and a 116 rating but he can't keep missing wide open recievers 3 or 4 times a game, that will haunt him against better defenses. Landry had a great game. Landry and Mayfield have played better since Beckham left. The defense got gashed pretty good, hopefully Garrett's return will shore that up. Parkey had two field goals that were huge, so keep up the good work there.

In today's NFL, where QB's are king, it's not often that a team relies on it's running backs as much as the Browns do. Cleveland is relying on it's running backs a lot this season, and the top two ball carriers in Cleveland, Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, are both on pace to run for more than 1,000 rushing yards. Nick Chubb is leading the Browns in rushing with 719 yards, despite missing four games this season. If he can continue to run at his pace of 102.7 yards per game, he'll finish the season with 1,233 rushing yards. Kareem Hunt is second on the Browns with 706 rushing yards. If Hunt continues at his pace of 64.2 yards a game, he'll finish the season with 1,027 rushing yards. Six teams in NFL history have had two 1,000 yard rushers in the same season: The 1972 Dolphins with Larry Csonka and Mercury Morris, the 1976 Steelers with Franco Harris and Rocky Bleier, the 1985 Browns with Kevin Mack and Earnest Byler, the 2006 Falcons with Warrick Dunn and Michael Vick, the 2008 Giants with Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward, the 2009 Panthers with Jonathan Stewart and DeAngelo Williams and the 2019 Ravens with Lamar Jackson and Mark Ingram. The Browns are closing in on being the seventh team in history to do it.

The Cleveland Browns are dealing with another Covid-19 case after an unidentified staff member tested positive. The team closed it's facility Wednesday to conduct contact tracing, which has become routine the past two week's because of several other positive tests. The Browns are expected to practice indoors after heavy snow in the area.

The Browns got a little bit of uplifting news on the injury front. Starting safety Ronnie Harrison hopefully will not need surgery on his injured shoulder, and could possibly return in time for the postseason. Coach Stefanski, even though he doesn't have a specific time frame in front of him, said that it might be a few week's, but that he was really hopeful he would be able to return.

The Browns have activated linebacker Sione Takitaki and defensive end Joe Jackson from the reserve/Covid-19 list on Friday morning. Takitaki was placed on the list last Wednesday and Jackson the day before on Tuesday. Both are now cleared to practice and play. Takitaki has appeared in 10 games this season, starting eight games. Jackson has played in 3 games so far this season, recording 5 total tackles and a fumble recovery.

New safety Tedric Thompson officially joined the Cleveland Browns active roster on Saturday. Cleveland claimed Thompson off waivers from the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this week, and Thompson finally passed through the required Covid-19 protocols. The Browns also signed wide receiver Ja'Marcus Bradley to the active roster from the practice squad.

Cleveland Browns QB baker Mayfield had one of his best games of the season on Sunday, finishing the game 25 of 33 passing for 334 yards with four touchdowns, good for a 147.0 passer fating. The Browns took a 38-7 lead into the break behind Mayfield's four first half scoring strikes. Mayfield's confidence is running high after he's thrown for six touchdowns in the last two games. He also hasn't thrown an interception since Week-7. The Browns at (9-3) for the first time since 1994, have also secured a winning record for the first time since 2007, and are in position to make the playoffs for the first time since 2002.

Once again the Brownies manage make it way closer than it should have been! At least this time it was against a good team. That first half might have been the best half of football I have ever seen them play. It should have been 45-7 at halftime if Peoples didn't drop that easy TD pass. Then the second half came and the defense forgot to show up giving up huge chunks of yards in the passig game. I thought oh no this can't be! Thankfully they righted the ship and the offense chewed up some time taking some pressure off them. Mayfield had a fantastic game minus the fumble. He can whizz the ball in there fast. He is starting to look like his rookie year again. I think he is getting comfortable with the new offense. He didn't have a preseason to learn it. Overall a good win and raised some eyebrows around the league.

Redcorn......I agree about the way the Brownies looked the 1st half. Hopefully that’s the version of the Browns the Ravens get tomorrow night.

Browns are playing well which in the last few years would mean a let down. Every game from now on is important. A play here and there can mean a difference from making the playoffs and doing something in the playoffs.
