Don't know exactly, Tobias, when was the last year we were ranked, but I know that in 2001 we were 15-4 in the regular season......in 1999 we were 15-4 also......we might have been in the top 25 or so in either of those years.....I do know that in 1992 we started the season 0-5 and were ranked #22........which was bizarre I thought. In 1991 we were ranked in the top 10, and that was the last year we were ranked that high.

Our last state championship team in 1988 finished #2 in the polls........I believe that from 1979--1991 Portsmouth was ranked every year in the top 10 except 1980, 1985, and 1986......pretty amazing run at that time. The 1979 team was 18-0 and captured the AP poll title......the only time in school history that the Trojans were at the top of the heap at the end of the season. The 1961 state championship team was ranked #8 during the season........and beat #7 25-0 Urbana for the title. Portsmouth was also ranked #1 in 1955, but it was not the final poll. The Trojans lost to Cincinnati Hughes in the regional finals that year.

I'm happy for our kids........you're right, polls are polls, but it's still nice to see our name mentioned. Maybe it will give our kids a little extra motivation in upcoming games to move up into the top 15 or so..................

Tobias: You're absolutely right about the Trojans........put the negatives behind us, focus on what's ahead........we still have quite a few games to build momentum going into the tournament.

Portsmouth's last winning season was in 2002, when they went 15-8 and lost to Eastern Brown in the district finals. That season was also PHS's last appearance in a district final game........the Trojans' last district title came in 2001 when they beat Warren 65-54 in the D2 final.

A winning season to break this 6 year skid would be a very nice accomplishment for our Trojans.

....we should have school in Portsmouth tomorrow; however, will Warren have school and be able to make the trip to Portsmouth is another question.

We should be able to play the game Saturday against South Point.

I was getting ready to say, that picture had to be taken in the second half, because we had a big crowd in the first, until the man box got rowdy, and the women grabed the children and got out of there...thats why,,,its the..man box
