... nice show tonight with Coach Skinner 93dog ... sounds like Coach is pumped and ready for the hoops season to get underway ... the dawgs will take all of the travel in stride we'll just change their name to the Athens Glodetrotters as they take on at least 5 "foreign" schools in the upcoming season ... try as you did to convince me that the Bulldogs should start at #1 over the Warriors of Warren - sorry ... Warren will start on top at #1 all alone as the 2013-14 season unfolds - the committee will take it from there as the campaign unfolds ...

... hey, thought it very interesting that Sheridan also played in the same Columbus Summer League as Athens at the Hoop in C'bus - more teams Below the Line looking to up their game as the season rolls around ...

ps I was about to move the 'dawgs into a first place tie BUT then saw that AHS will be playing the Bottled Water guys from Propel outta Pa. ??? you had me right up to the flavored water guys making the menu of games

LMAO Floyd ... Athens wouldn't need to play Propel had a certain team north of us not cancelled two games ... just sayin.

BTW ... I had a nice segment set aside for the infamous Pfloyd rankings - but we ran out of time talking about the schedule ... sorry about that ... Coach Skinner and I did talk about Floyd off air before the show though - and he like so many others - are hoping the purple hippo gets back to 100% soon!!!

... I appreciate the positive thoughts from Coach Skinner ... Coach is one of those folks that has always been right there with his support of pfloyd, always has time for a word or twelve ... one of the many coaches around Southern/Southeastern Ohio that I call a friend of the Purple Hippo ... I wish the best for Coach Skinner and the Bulldogs vs ALL opponents (yep, even vs those Warriors of Warren) ... I personally enjoy ALL quality teams, the great coaches (maybe not Propel guys) in Southern Ohio - I'm just a fan of good basketball, Athens & Coach Skinner fit the great team/coach category for me ...

Pumped is a good word Floyd ... the entire Bulldog nation is ...

last week I passed Fred Gibson (Nelsonville T.V. cable announcer) riding his bike when I was on my way to the gym ... once I got their I seen Coach Skinner and Mrs. Skinner upstairs running laps ... downstairs Ibi Watson, Griffin Lutz and some other younger players were running up and down the court involved in a serious game ... then you had me (radio announcer) working out in the weight room, and so was Burrow and Saltzmen ... LOL ... the entire crew was getting into shape for the upcoming season - and it was only JUNE ... all we needed was a little 'eye of the tiger' blaring over the sound system ...

... ol' pfloyd is restricted to lifting nothing over 5 lbs for 6-8 weeks - no golf !!! pfloyd was hitting the golf ball better than ever before the surgery too even after 2 years away from the course ... no golf until the middle of August/hit the gym again the end of August to get in shape for basketball season ... there is a little season in-between something called football LOL ... looking forward to doing a football game rundown - my first in a number of years ...

May I suggest attending a Trimble game or an Athens game (like you do during basketball season) ... lol ... I'm confident they are the two best teams in southeastern Ohio this year ... both are worth watching ... the QB for the Tomcats is one of the most dynamic playmakers I have seen at the small school level in quite some time ... and as much as I talk about Athens basketball and Joe Burrow - football is the kids future ... if he is a 7 on the basketball court, he's easily a 10 on the gridiron - its definitely his sport.

BTW ... can't lift over 5lbs? How do you pick up poor little Schooner??? I'm sure he was quite happy when dad finally came home ...

... Athens football is on the pfloyd "bucket list" for the upcoming gridiron season ... as far as Schooner goes he likes dad no matter what/ sure missed my dogs when I was gone for 2 weeks in the hospital LOL ...

... 93dog are you doing the radio for Athens FOOTBALL this season as well as hoops?

Floyd ... As much as I would love to do Athens 'games' ... we have a much bigger and more popular show that I am a part of that airs from 10:00 - 12:00 on Friday nights on Power 105.5 FM ... it keeps me from covering the actual games because we have to be at the station by the 3rd quarter ... the co-host (Rusty Martin) and I will venture out to games in Athens County, tailgate with folks, watch the first half, and then head to the station to get ready for the post-game show.

And we also do a Thursday night 'pre-game' show.

Its quite crazy how much football coverage we do ... Hoops definitely takes a back seat to the gridiron when it comes to media coverage in southeastern Ohio ... lol ... but I'm working on fixing it.

Athens basketball 2013/2014

12/14 ... vs Logan Elm (at McAfee Gymnasium ... I'll save you a seat on press row ... quit hiding in the cheap seats when you come to the Plains!)
12/20 ... at Vinton County (this has been an annual game for you, so no reason to miss it this year)
12/27 ... at Orlando Florida (Disney ESPN Sports Complex)
12/28 ... at Orlando Florida (Disney ESPN Sports Complex)
12/29 ... at Orlando Florida (Disney ESPN Sports Complex)
1/4 ... vs Circleville (at McAfee Gymnasium ... bman says you have to attend this one as well to watch his Tigers.)
1/10 ... at Akron St. Vincent - St. Mary (sweeeeeet - a long road trip to Akron - we fully expect to see the Pfloyd tour bus their)
1/11 ... at The Beast of the Southeast in Chesapeake (hospitality room - nuff said!)
1/21 ... AT WARREN!!!!!!!!!
1/25 ... at Ironton (at The Ironton Classic ... maybe worth seeing depending on the other teams their)
1/31 ... Vinton County (McAfee Gymnasium)
2/8 ... Propel School Pittsburg Pennsylvania (will be the 4th foreign school Athens plays this year.)

* So I have you down for 9 Athens games Floyd ... lol ... would you like a green-and-gold shirt to wear during these events?
93Bulldog....that is some schedule....worth the money for a ticket just to see!!! Good luck...

Pfloyd- just checked out the Shermans schedule and I hope you can make it down on Monday (Monday?) 12/23 when your Chieftains head down to Frenchtown. It will be the 4th game on the brand new floor at the U. First time for a new floor since the school was built in 1973.

... daniC I will absolutely make the trip to UHS to see the Shermans matchup with my Purple ... as long as my health allows me to get out to games I will be there my friend ... I've got your Shermans sitting in the top 8 in Southern/Southeastern Ohio to start the season - I don't see UHS letting me down ...

All that purple might make you nauseated for your Christmas dinner pfloyd. You may want to consider attending Chillicothe at Logan Elm that night instead. :122249 :122249 :-D :-D
