Game of Week #3 West vs. #2 Wheelersburg SOC Championship

One thing is for certain and can't be debated, Wheelersburg has proven on the field what they are capable of (every freakin year) vs boasting about "doing" something on a blog.


Having played/followed Southern Ohio football for over 35 years, the Burg will show up to play 4 quarters. I don't think anyone can name one game in that time span where you can say the Burg folded. Very few area teams can say that.

Can't argue that. I don't like em' and it wouldn't matter if it was a chess tournament I would want West to win. But in the end, with coaching etc being equal (which I don't think in the past it always has been) horses win the race. I just think West has more horses this year.

I guess the Pirates will just have to use these then to control those horses.

just talked to one of the burg players about an hour ago. asked him about the game. he said he was ready to play today. the coaches had them studying film/scouting report for about two hours then practiced for about an hour. asked him about stopping the 3 headed monster. he said they have to play disicpline and as a team and stay low--they know what we are going to do and we know what they are going to do.

Returning to the Alma Mater Friday night for the first time in 3 years. Should be an exciting game.... Will make me feel like a student again!

West doesnt have a visitors side worthy of Burgs fans. thats a fact.

west fans obviously have not seen the Burg play like they say they have. Burg ripped off 8-10 yd runs almost all game vs Minford. yeah, they got beat a few times here and there but they were more explosive on offense than West was vs Minford. West needed a steal for a TD and a fake punt to get the Falcons gather, burg will just offensively figure what the siders are doing on defense then get it going. Burg is a bend but dont break defense for sure. but when the field tightens up for the siders, no quick out passes will help you, no running between the tackles. burg LBs are as big and strong as your running backs. They are very disciplined and hit hard. Too bad Tyler Lang isnt playing. he would send a sider back to where he came from. Ask a Trojan!!

The burg players need to get them some Ricola throat lozenges. They are going to need them just like "The Mighty Minford Falcons" did after they get the ball run down their throat all night long.

Burg will be amazed with how physical West is. West's safties are bigger than Burg's LB's. Burg might lose their first playoff game because they will be so beat up.
And 90% of Wheelersburg people do think they are better than everybody else.

90% huh? I cant figure out why that would be. Why would that be Westsidepride? Your team sucks or our team is really good? You make the call.

West physical? Burg is not? Again, noone for West has seen this Burg team that I can see. West physical or not, I have seen both teams and when the Burg gets the D going, they are as tough as anyteam in this area! And to call Swords and Bricker bigger than White and hall (burgs LBs) is hilarious! Swords and Bricker best be ready to figure where the ball is, not how big they are!!

i was just wondering if his crew was going to be a part of the wonderful event.i have heard they are a fine crew and do a great job. he is a mod on here plus a ref.
