---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- hey lets stat the facts, i got called out right after one of my posts, saying i could have tiger in my user name , but not live in ironton. duh. then i was simply stating that ironton lost to 3 teams who are still in the second round of the playoffs, nothing more, nothing less. i did not say anything about new lex. i know they are for real. i rode their back in the pick-em contest , the whole season. bnut this week, i just happen to pick ironton over them. is that anything unusual. i thought not.bruiser wrote:it never ceases to amaze me about ironton fans how they like to thump their own chest and brag. all excited about beating a westfall team who has given up a bunch of pts. all year. westfall was not a very good def. team. you win one playoff game and say we can go all the way. that is my problem with tiger fans. they don't look at reality. you will not win it all. own up to the facts. you all are like ky. wildcat bb fans, you never face the real truth.

You got beat by 3 good teams so stop using excuses to compensate for the losses. "First game jitters"??? Ironton has lost only 2 straight to Wheelersburg with last years game being a blowout...Burg has hardly ever beat I-town but when they do its because of "first game jitters"? I dont think so...Burg has been the better team the past two years and you should be thankful that at least they keep winning following the first week...you could have lost to a terrible team but you didnt. Ironton has quite a legacy for being one of the toughest teams in the state so dont lower yourself with excuses.
Logan is, well, amazing this year and the same can be said about Chillicothe and both may go far.
I look for I-town to represent Southern Ohio well in this game and I hope they make it all the way to the top.

How do you know that they won't win it all? You said face the real truth, well, the real truth is that" That's Why They Play The Game." No one knows the outcome, not even you. I think any team who makes the play offs have the right to pound their chests and brag. I will be there supporting the Ironton Fighting Tigers, the SEOAL, and my SEOP's friends. Good Luck boys from your Jackson supporters.

LOL! Beat me to it! They won't be down for long though.
Every fan has the right to brag about their team. That's what this forum is for! Some just do it with class and others do it without thinking about what they are saying.
I think everyone knows this will be a good game. You don't get to the second round of the playoffs by being a bad or average team. Alot of things can happen during this game esp. if it rains.
I just hope both teams stay healthy! Good luck to both teams. Just better luck to the team coming from the north.

Glad that the game is at Jackson as well. Great stadium, great lighting and great seating. When the leadership at OHSAA changed a few years ago, the scheduling started making a whole lot more sense..thank Goodness!
maybe you should look at what they did to POrtsmouth West...a number 1 seed

If you mean Ky basketball team you got that right. They have struggeld much like Ironton has the past 3 or 4 years but Ironton has it heading in the right direction hopefull Billy G can get UK headed in the right direction too.
Tigers90 your one of us too welcome brother.
your prediction of blowing out the Burg six time out of ten is way off base.
Good luck this weekend Tigers.
You might be right on that...although...when that game started...I think it was really looking ugly for the burg..they were already hanging their heads...then came the fumblitis and Ironton just never stoped fumbling...until they were in a deep hole...gave the burg reason to pick themselves up and get confidence...then on that last drive by the burg...they really hit us with alot of things that we had never prepared for and wasn't able to stop...even the pass at the end...and yes..hate to admit it...but it was inbounds...
thanks for the comment...and good luck to your wildcats...they aren't ranked too high...but they have some good players..never know...
as for the tigers...I think they have the ability to go far...just need things to go their way..as every team does at this point...luck is half the battle at this point...every team is good...hope the seniors keep stepping up and leading the team...was nice to see that last week...go tigers....

Hey West wants to be the big dogs around here or at least thats what their fans are saying. So it makes since for a team other than Ironton or Burg to get screwed on the travel arrangments.
As for this game a wise man once said, "Its better to get Ironton early that late." Thats why the Burg schedules them week #1 so they got a shot at beating them. Another wise man also said, "You either get better or you get worse you never stay the same." This Ironton team has gotten better and better in these past few weeks. They are gelling as a team right now and that offensive line is dominating people. Yeah we are the underdogs coming into this one since we do have those three losses. Like has been said in here about this team many many times if the hold onto the ball they can beat anyone. What we got here is the old school vs new school. Tigers have been in this poition many times. Playing a better, faster, superior team that likes to spread you out and they got a great QB. 8 times out of 10 they pass that challenge with flying colors by doing what they do best. They will line up in a T and run it right down your throat. Cause everybody has a gameplan til they get hit in the mouth.

Is anyone having any luck trying to post on the NL site? I have signed up and have a profile on there but it will not let me post anything. Whats up with that?

I can't deny the fact that I wear my pair of BURG blinders now and then

You know that both ADs have to agree in order to make the scheduling final right? It's not like we can just make I-town play us. Wheelersburg and Ironton have been playing in week 1 because a loss then won't destroy the entire season and lets both teams catch a glimpse of things to come. The game is usually very competitive with some exceptions and thats the way true football fans like it. Yes Ironton does tend to get better as the season progresses but it's not like Wheelersburg just quits after that...they get better too.

I'm torn. I want to root for the SEOAL. But New Lex plays about 3 miles from my house. Gotta go with the Panthers.

They scored 14pts like before only this time minford only scored 6....but if you are heading in the direction I think you are then I can defend by saying that both teams improved from their first meeting so it evened out in the end

Re: Round 2 Ironton vs. New Lexington at JACKSON
Men,
It is enjoyable to watch all you Burg and other teams' fans throw things at Ironton fans, please put on your orange and black and cheer for NL Friday! But back to the matter at hand...
We have a good band and rowdy fans, and it ought to be great playing the Tigers at Jackson.
Turf and weather are two variables in the game, but I think the people who say the game will be won in the trenches is correct. If NL can run a little bit, and pass a little bit against the vaunted Ironton D, we can keep their offense off the field, and/or keep them from pounding it for 25 or 30 minutes in the game. My impression is that the teams that beat Ironton either got a lead early and make Ironton throw the ball, or ran all over Ironton's front 7 and had the ball all night. Now if you are Logan and Chilli you certainly have the horses to do that, being big time D2/D3 schools. How did the Burg do it in week 1? Did they do it like Logan and Chilli, or was it a case of Ironton progressively shooting itself in the foot until they were playing on their kneecaps?
Also men, while Ironton has a legend as the HC and a legendary staff to go with it, New Lex has a great coaching staff as well. When the current staff came on board 8 years ago NL was just starting to come out of hole so deep they spoke Chinese where NL was. They took a program the previous staff had done some good things with, and took it to places it had not been since the mid 1970's. And they did it with a lot of handicaps and things working against them. They have a halftime bag of tricks too, and I wish we could sit in both teams' film rooms and here them game plan this thing out. It would be a real education for many of us.
Long time NL fans can tell you how great NL FB once was, and how low it had sunk. But now, NL has moved up the ladder to the D4 elite, like Ironton is, and only a handful of other schools are. That is one reason this game is going to be great Friday......
...... Another reason is that NL will win.
