And the Federal Government is not a church. The Supreme Court will weigh the issue of gay marriage in the light of the Constitution, not the Bible. If they uphold gay marriage laws, it will become the law of the land. If they do not, it will only delay the inevitable acceptance of it. Tuck says it can never be because God does not ordain it. That is a Biblical perspective; enlightened man is mindful of basic morals but are not chained to theological constraints. Some might wish it were so but it was never meant to be by the Framers. MD, the government has a compelling interest in regulating marriages between a man and his daughter, a man and his dog, etc. The most obvious reason a man shouldn't marry his own daughter is due to the whole genetics issue, risk of birth defects, risk of abuse, and so on. But can you provide me one non-religious based reason that justifies the government prohibiting gay marriage? I can't think of a single one.

I think I've said enough for my part on this topic. I just wish it was over on the political forum. This subject strikes a raw nerve in our country. If gays were never allowed to marry, it would not affect me personally one bit. If Jim Crow was still in effect, it wouldn't impact my life. I'm just passionate that all citizens should enjoy equal rights and freedoms because, if not, one day someone is going to come hunting after a freedom or right that affects ME.
