Ironton Turf project has started
Re: Ironton Turf project has started
I drove by yesterday after a trip to the Ashland mall and it looks really good. The different fonts in the endzones wouldn't have been my choice, but you can't see them both at the same time anyway....lol Interesting that there were several kids playing soccer on the field when I went through...maybe St Joe kids?

There may be a line through the tiger, I know at Coal Grove it is hard to see from the stands but on the field there is a think line that goes through the wishbone c in the middle of the field so there is a solid 50 yard line running from sideline to sideline.RoadMan wrote:After looking at the mid-field logo, I wondered if there is a requirement for a solid 50 yd line.
With that said, very few, if any fields, have a continuous line through the mid-field/50 yd line.
Perhaps one of the officiating members of the site may offer some input.
Re: Ironton Turf project has started
It should be a shadow line through the logo, but very few turf companies follow these rules.

Great pictures of the new turf at Tank Stadium.........I think the endzones and the Tiger at midfield look just fine........I also like the new walkway to the visitors side. I like the tribute to Coach Bob Lutz on the sidelines. Fighting Tiger fans should be very proud of the new look at the historic Tank!
When Trojan Coliseum was built, there were a number of people who complained about this and that who didn't give one dime to the project.........I never gave anything but realized what we were getting.......a brand new football stadium just across the street from a new high school...........two things I thought I would never see in Portsmouth in my lifetime!! The small details that came with its design were just that......small!! I am very happy to have what we have in Portsmouth!!

Very well spoken my friend from down river. I have the same feelings here in Ironton.

Does anyone know what time the 7 on 7 Ironton vs Raceland this Friday is?

Looks like the scoreboard is being moved more towards the band shelter but still to the visitor's side of the end zone, behind the fence where the pool once was. Saw 3 I-beams anchored in the ground in that vicinity today, looking to be 20-30' tall.

Its looks taller and less angled so the visitors can see it as well.

I can't wait to see it, I've not been back into town in probably 3 months.
I was told where the pool was is now going to be a new visitor's entrance by a good source months ago.

I was told by a school Official (when I was down there taking pictures) that they had saved one of the old school entrances, the long term plan was to use it and make that area the MAIN entrance but that's a long ways down the road. They don't have the money to do it right now. You're Tiger Bait wrote:I can't wait to see it, I've not been back into town in probably 3 months.

The Ironton Turf Project.
I have not posted on this site in maybe 2 or 3 years but this, THIS, is worth me breaking the silence. I no longer live in Ironton, or even live in the State of OHIO. I currently am out in San Diego working with a great company and i am loving life. Been watching great high school football out here in So Cal and I am loving every minute of it. I have seen a lot of awful post that people have been putting on here and they should be ashamed of themselves...I grew up in that town and everyone loves to feed off of the negative thoughts. I mean who gives a SH*T if the Tiger in the middle isnt perfect. It resembles the tiger in the gym as well. And the fonts in the endzones look to me like they are based off of the gray shirts they used (may still do) give the players to wear to away games..I LOVE IT!.
Lets enforce some positive energy into the this thread. The field looks amazing and i would have loved to have that turf when I was in school. Im sure this excites the players and coaches as well.. What a FANTASTIC improvement for a GREAT football program. Now if we can put some W's up we will be in the right direction..
I personally just want to thank everyone who is involved with the turf project. Keep up the great work on improving every aspect of Ironton High School!

The scoreboard has been put back up. It's the one from last year and not a new one. It's up higher and easier to see. Looks good in its new home.
