BEST LINEBACKERS PAST 25 Years
Re: BEST LINEBACKERS PAST 25 Years
Shane Desimone: Portsmouth 86-89 (I think)
If he wasn't the best high school linebacker, I don't think there is one. No one could read a play and react to it faster than him. He was unbelievable on the high school level. Great player.

The guy for GAHS in 85-86 was Bruce O'Rourke. He averaged over 10 tackles a game. Andy was indeed a DE and an animal. Bruce walked on at Wake Forest but played only 1 year.

it was andy howard who decleated you for sure back in the day lol, no offense to the other blue devils LBs named here.............but we know if a former player was talking about decleated in the mid 80s by a blue devil it was #42..when the blue devils kicked off when he played everyone had there eyes on howard and even if he didnt make the tackle, he would still knock the brakes off of some1..........

Re: BEST LINEBACKERS PAST 25 Years
Turner and Williams-two very good additions.
I will never forget the play I say by Turner at Portsmouth vs Jackson when the Ironmen went unbalanced line and cracked back on him from the slot. Heck Turner hit the slot so hard that it threw him into the pitch back on the option for a big lose.
Williams got a lot of playing time last year as a true freshmen for the Buckeyes. If you would go back to 78 another Miami Trace LB would be Glenn Cobb-two time team captain at OSU.

bruce was indeed a player. he wore a neck roll. we had a guy who thought he was bosworth. he showed up to practice with a neck brace he was told by coach saunders he didnt hit hard enough to wear one. that was a good laugh.coach niday telling someone that was the poorest excuse for a fullback since j__n Mc ____ during film study and get in trouble for laughin. boy those were the days.
warren local had some beast too. i believe Edeblute and his sidekick. geez they could hit. welcome to varsity football

Todd Marcum IMO was a pretty good linebacker from the Peake in 02.

I assume you mean Ian Colegrove. He is one of the best as well. Ramone was able to do a few things Ian wasn't. Ian may have been the most intense though, I'll give you that.

Re: BEST LINEBACKERS PAST 25 Years
Jason Snider and Todd Braden from Vinton County. (Snider '93, Braden'97) were 2 of the best linebackers I have ever seen. Both of them had a way of just being around the ball and could deliver some big hits. Snider went on to play DL at Navy and Braden DE at Mount Union. Both had very good college careers as well.
