As a soccer guru once told me, It is not always the one scoring the goals that are the best players. It's the players scoring the goals are the ones that get their names in the paper. When is the last time a coach or a newspaper writer ever commented on a great defensive game by a sweeper or how dominant a midfielder was winning the 50/50 balls? Soccer is a team sport. You can't win without defense or offense.

soccerfix this soccer guru had to be from outside southern ohio. if only we could channel his wisdom. wiser words never spoken. wish we could get some to maybe rub his belly to partake of this wisdom. this may be the only way to get the message out.

Very true. Connor is a prime example of this. I know he scores goals but he also controls his team throughout the midfield.

I think Wheelersburg has a similar situation. Yes, Lewis is a good player. He has many goals and several assists. However, I have really enjoyed watching the Brooks kid over the last 4 years. IMHO he is deserving of the award as well. He does not have the numbers that Lewis has but I think Brooks is the engine that makes the 'Burg train roll...

Big Poppa,

You said, "However Webster in the past has given bigger awards to Seniors..." You have no affiliation with the program so you don't know what you are talking about. Did it ever occur to you that maybe the coach nominates who he thinks is deserving? Or does all your info. come from the pirate family you support?
