Logan by a late field goal. oh wait, just kidding. Last week Logan's defense had a shutout for the first half. This week the defense will want to show how much they improved. Logan 56-0. Is there a mercy clock rule in Ohio ?

I think this game will be 1 sided but Logan will pull the plug at halftime.

we still have to get by da-ville and ironton. before we get to 10-0. both have good starts to there season. i'm more worried about ironton's running game. everyone knows dave lutz loves to run the ball. lets hope that pick norths size had alot to do with there success run in the 2nd half. i sure the our coaching staff will sure up the run defense. :122249

Logan's defense was always considered their weakness entering this season. How could it not be considering the talent and experience that graduated. That said, there is a lot of talent (if not sheer size) on that defense. It needs time to coalesce and gain experience. Pickerington North tested it mightily in the second half of the game but it survived and gathered a critical stop when needed. This defense will get better; it is one of those old axioms that if you are going to get at it, you better get it early. Logan dodged a bullet, will learn from that and get better. By the simple process of the players playing together and working off each other, the unit will become more cohesive. Any team that thinks going forward it can simply pound against the defense and win has to take into consideration the offense putting up 30+ points on average.

After taking a phyical beating and with all the injuries we have, if we get up by 3TD the starters need to be pulled. Also look for Logan to work on the running game this week.

One other thing to keep in mind was the loss of Mays on defense. As Amyx mentioned in his post-game comments, it wan't the loss of one player but the fact it caused a cascading effect in that several other starters were switched out of "normal" positions. Logan was already down a starter as Ralph Robinson was out for most of the game at defensive end. That had to have an exaggerated effect on the defense. The plus is Logan had to develop greater depth as a result.

I agree a lot of people have overlooked the "domino" affect of the loss of guys to injury.

Losing Ralph meant that Brandon Graham moved to end from OLB. That forced Snider to OLB from MLB and Valkinburg into the line-up at MLB. When Mays went out, it meant bringing in Angle more at LB, playing Cavinee more at OLB, and moving McDaniel from Corner to LB at times. That also got Jurgesnmier on the field for the first time at Corner.

All those guys are capable of playing the positions, but for an inexperienced defense, moving that many guys around this early in the season is going to lead to more mistakes than usual.

No doubt North dominated Logan up front. But I think most of us knew that was a real possibility coming into the game. The "D" is going to be fine. We won't see another team that good up front all season, and that includes the playoffs (except maybe Louisville, although they are a different kind of line).

Let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet. Let's take them one at a time and hope we can stay healthy. I agree that this coming friday the Chiefs should have everything well in hand. I hope some of the youngester will get a lot of playing time which will do nothing but help them out down the road. Good luck to both teams.

A source close to the program tells me that the injuries to Mays and McDainals could prevent them from playing this week. also was informed of some fighting between some of the players, hope this is untrue. Problems like this will lead the Chiefs to at least two defeats. I predict that Ironton and Zanesville will defeat the Chiefs and Ironton will run the table!

Logan played HT without Morgan and Neff last fall and still cruised to a win in the rain. If there is any question about the injuries to McDaniel/Mays, I think the next two weeks are a great opportunity to get them healthy. Jordan Rutter, Swaim, Sigler, Graham, etc. are more than capable of carrying the weight at receiver. Cavinee is a quality back out of the backfield and probably could play some receiver.

Those two would be missed more defensively than offensively IMO. Now is the time to get healthy.

Bumps and bruises are a part of the game. I'd have to believe Logan's opponents are dealing with their share of hurts as well. As for the internal dissension, that's news to me and I have a contact VERY close to the program. Logan (or any team for that matter) can lose on any given night but it won't be because they lose focus.
