Big win for the Eagles..It wasn't pretty but they got the job done...After watching these 2 teams tonight..It will definitely be between these 2 clubs for the SOC.After shooting poorly from the foul line all night,Thornsberry stepped up and knocked down 2 huge ones to give the Eagles a lead with 8 seconds left then held on for the win as Tibbs last shot attempt was blocked by Wheeler.Eastern is now 6-1 and 4-0 in the SOC.

GO EAGLES!!!

Big Win for the Eagles tonight, Tibbs hit a clutch 3 to put the vikings up by 1 with around 30 sec left. Then the Eagles comes back and Thornsberry hits both free throws and as has been the trend for the ealges so far this season. Defense at the end help them get the win tonight. Wheeler had the big block, then Lawhorn came up with the ball under the scuffle of players. Symmes valley played good tonight as well and gave the eagles their first close game of the season. This game is a good experience both teams can build on for the rest of the season. I also believe this puts Eastern as the front runner in the SOC1. I think they are the only team now that has yet to lose in the league. Green may not have lost yet, no sure about them. Congrats tonight on the big win Eagles and good luck the rest of the year.

"I have faith and so does the rest of the Beaver and Stockdale (especially Justin McBee and his fried squirrel specialty). LOL"

Justin McBee has the deep fryer turned on high and is offering free fried squirrel in celebration of the Eagles victory! He has Jenny skinning them as I type. She is very talented and can have one shucked out and soaking in salt water in less than 30 seconds!

A huge CONGRATS to Coach Fitch and the Eagles!

Defense....defense....defense.

WOW! Congrats to the Eagles and Coach Fitch on a win by the narrowest of margins. This is a huge win! Sounds like Thornsberry knocled down foul shots under pressure and Wheeler made a great play against Tibbs with the block. Does not suprize me that Lawhorn came up with the ball..that kid plays with heart.

Enjoy this one and go get East on Friday! Going to Sciotoville to play is never easy! Stay focused Eagles and take em 1 at a time!

GO EAGLES!

The end of the game should have went to sv b/c first when they were down 1 with 8.8 sec left payne dribbles down the floor and gets fouled by two defenders and then tibbs gets the ball and tries to shoot it but had three defenders all over him and the shot was blocked by wheeler but the other two kids fouled tibbs just like they fouled payne but the refs just looked the other way and the game was over.

You mean kind of like how the guards from Symmes Valley were constantly holding and hand checking Eastern's guards the entire game, or when Lawhorn got a foul by boxing out a kid right under the basket, or when Hawks got a foul because some kid who knocked him backwards on the floor took two jump steps right over top of him? I know, I wasn't very pleased with the officiating either. I don't know if you're right or wrong about the calls at the end of the game, but according to you, if the officiating would have been perfect tonight, Eastern wouldn't have had to worry about making clutch freethrows and playing hard-nosed defense at the end of the game anyway. I think you should give credit to Eastern for the win rather than blaming the referees for SV's loss.

People from Symmes Valley are very good people, and I would never say anything negative about a team. This post is specifically for you, 5HDbOy. I don't want to offend anyone else from Symmes Valley, and I think the Vikings played amazing tonight!

A simple congrats to the Eagles will suffice!

the refs was bad both ways with eastern getting the call at the end when the eastern player drove the ball down the right side of the paint tibbs followed him down and another sv player came over to help and both players backed off with at least 3feet between the players and when the eastern player looked up to shoot he knew he could not get it over tibbs and lost the ball out of bounds and the ref on that side who had the foul line down did not call a foul but the ref on the other side of the paint who must of had exray vision to see thru two sv players backs calls a foul and called it on a sv # who was not even down in the corner.give easterns player credit he hit two clutch freethrows but i would like to see the same call when tibbs gets his jersey pulled clear out of his shorts at the end,i would love to see these two teams play on a neutral court if they play 10 times, each team would have 5 wins they are that even.cant wait for the rematch

The officiating was poorly called on both ends. They let both teams play pretty physical...especially towards the end of the game. Basketball is a physical sport and officiating isn't crystal clear. . . Unfortunately a lot of officiating is opinions from their standpoint. I've been a victim of it myself when I played. It may look like a horrible foul from one angle, but from the other angle you could see four inches between the two players. It's basketball.....it happens...Refs don't lose games though

Eastern is always tough. We should have expected nothing less. Both teams played hard. We always blame the refs if our team looses a close one. Year after year. But to other matters. Eastern's popcorn is great. Made the entire drive worth while! Hope both teams had alot of fun playing. Maybe next time we will beat them at SV. That would make for a great SOC race!

Eastern Fans! Warning, Bring your own popcorn to SV. Enough said. :aaaaa93

Can't wait for the rematch between these two teams. I believe it is towards the end of the season, so that game will more than likely decide who is the league champs.

Symmes Valley's guards were playing hard-nosed defense. They were playing the same kind of defense that the boys from Eastern were playing so you can't say anything about the defense at the end of the game. The vikings were down and needed a stop and they really stepped it up at the end. the game just didn't end the way they would have liked. But hats off for the GREAT defense.

I believe you took his post out of context to make it sound like it said something different. He was reffering to when 5HDboy said the game was officiated lop sided.

I will NEVER blame a game on the refs. You just can't help that stuff.I'm reffering to him saying that the Vikings guards were "constantly holding and hand checking Eastern's guards the entire game." Symmes Valley's guards were seeing the same kind of defense. I never made it sound like he said somthing different than he did. I was simply giving these young men a compliment on some good defense..both ways!!

not true. i noticed this too. every now and then eastern's guards might have gotten away with hand checking, but symmes valley really was doing every single possession. it always happened after eastern crossed halfcourt.
