Re: scioto county peewee football
As far as the age goes, I have a feeling we will go by age and grade, but that's not up 2 me, I just have a feeling. for example, the 10 year old couldn't play on our 4th grade team because he is in 5th, a 13 couldnt play on the 6th and a 7th grade 11 year old would have to play jr hi, basically the you was saying sider. see ya . I saw you last night but you were in work clothes I believe. HAVE YOUR BIB ON fRIDAY NIGHT FOR RIBS.LOL.

I did check about max coaches and it is 4 max on sideline/field during game. So 3/4, 2 on sline+ 2 on field. 5TH/6TH 4 on sideline.

If the kids have to play for the school they go to that wil kill Green's 3/4 program, and won't help the roughriders much either. I don't make decisions just suggestions. I would say it doesn't matter, just the age thing will. This is to keep the playing field fair.

Re: scioto county peewee football
I'm pretty sure we will be doing age and grade both. We are letting our kids play up if they are able and parents ask, but only in the level. Ex: a 4th grader can't play 5th/6th, but a 3rd can play on 4th but that's up to each league. See ya tonight!

Re: scioto county peewee football
The clinic was nice. Good info. I think there is still gonna be a lot of people that aren't happy with the final rules of the league. You can't make everyone happy. I think they have the age thing just about figured out. The weight thing I would have hated when I was a kid. I was battling it every year, but the limit was alot less then. Most of the Northern Ohio schools go with the same rules for the DB's and LB's. Being realistic you are not gonna have a whole team full of kids over 135. So it should not be an issue. I don't like lining a kid up that is 185 at LB and bringing him every time. It is dangerous for that kid as well, because coaches are going to have their kids cut him at the knees to stop him. But either way they are gonna line up and play. As coaches and presidents we need to try to get this figured out as soon as possible before we get started. I would also suggest that each league makes a copy of the rules and gives them to the parents. This will help cut down on answering some of the unnecessary questions come game day. I was reading on the punt, that it will be a complete dead ball... Is this the right thing to do? I can live with it, but that i one I think that may need tweaked. When weigh in day comes. The President the Team's coach and atleast 1 other representative from the league needs to be there. That way the whole cheating thing isn't brought up. Also Once weighed in that is final. No more I want that kid weighed in.

Re: scioto county peewee football
ok-rules from last night's meeting=
1-insurance-need it at preview or teams can't play.
2-fee-150
3-weigh in's-aug 15th-west high school 2pm, any player who may play rb.wr,qb,te,lb, db-must be weighed and ALL birth certificates from EVERY player on team must be brought.
4-Aug 21st-previews at GREEN
5-If a player is signed up for your team he cannot switch to a different team.
6-weight limits=3/4th-115
5/6-135
These limits apply to qb,rb,r,te and lb's and dbs.
7- Age limits=3/4 grade-must be in 3/4 grade and not be 11 before Sept 15.
5/6-Must be in 5/6 and cannot be 13 before Sep 15.
The ONLY exception to this is relating to 3/4 grade-a 5th grader can play 3/4 if he meets the 3/4 age, weighs less than 116, has never played before and cannot play qb,rb,wr,te, lb,db.
Waivers- a player must get the waiver from the school district in which they reside. But the team does not have to sign it. Also kids who live in Portsmouth can play for trojans or RR without a waiver.
Max 4 coachesduring game also.

Re: scioto county peewee football
Waivers? In pee-wee football?
That's just about the stupidest thing that's came up yet. This is in a time of open enrollment. You can go to any school you want. Now you have to get a waiver. I know kids that live in certain school districts and go to school/play ball at other schools. I'm talking 5th and 6th graders that have went to that school since kindergarden and never intend on switching. Now they have to get a paper from another school?
We're just about to ruin a great game. We don't need umteen rules. What we need is coaches that are more concerned with learning kids football, and less concerned with finding ways to stretch the rules and find an advantage to win a meaningless game.
I've been involved with West for a couple years and I'm very proud at how we do things. We teach our kids the basic high school system. The T, for sure isn't the best offensive system for pee-wee, but it teaches the kids the game, which is what this level is supposed to be about. On Defense we don't line 7 up on the line and rush every play like some teams have because it works at that level. It's not football. We line up in a basic defense, and learn the kids to read and react. We don't line up to punt and stretch kids 40 yards across the field because the rules don't say that you can't. We line up in a normal punt formation whether it works or not.
These are just a few things I've seen. I would just like to see more emphasis on the quality of the game and learning kids the game.

Someone from the meeting told me West will NOT release and WILL NOT allow any kid from another school to play for them.
Is that 100% correct?

You sound like you know a little about football. What concerns me is the part about a "meaningless game" Is it really meaningless? For the kids that wear orange and black and dream about playing under the lights on Friday nights wearing the same colors, is it meaningless for them? When does the game of football become important to them and to everyone involed with them? If you yourself have played the game or any organized sport, you will know that winning isn't just something, it is everything. In order for a team to compete and win a game they must play as a team, be prepared to play as a team, IE be well coached, and they must want it. So for the ones that say it is just pee wee, I say to you look into the 10 year old's eyes just before he takes the field and tell him it is meaningless. There are things I have seen that are a bit ridiculous like putting 11 in the box play after play, spreading the field like a kickoff for a punt, don't have to worry about that one this year, it will be a deadball during the punt. Until the coaches are paid for all the time they put in, all the crap they put up with, it will never change. There will always be a turd in the punch bowl. I don't see a salary coming in the next few lifetimes so it is what it is.

Re: scioto county peewee football
As far as waivers go there has always been waivers I believe they didn't change that, most schools will sign anyway. I do believe West won't sign for outgoing or incoming players and that's their right. Potsmouth usually will sign either way. But for little schols such as green, nd, east, waivers can help or hurt. They an help if a team lets a player play for them but hurt if their players want to leave. So overall waivers are prob good for small teams, they can get numbers from other schools -but what if their players want to leave? 2 way street.
