That clip brought a tear to my eye. I sure am going to miss seeing Taylor run out there on Friday nights! I am grateful that he will be playing on Saturdays though, so I will definately be there. I will still try to get to Tiger games when I am off on Friday, I love those kids! Good luck Tigers!

If you guys do not run the table with this schedule, some serious questions must be asked! As far as returning to the Great SEOAL FORGET IT! And thats the way it is folks.
Re: Ironton week 9 filled???
I don't know how anyone can criticize Ironton for picking up this opponent to fill out their schedule. At this time of year almost anyone would have been acceptable.

I guess that shows that you really don't know much about some of the Teams on Irontons schedule. Here's some of the Teams We are playing that are not SEOAL Teams except Portsmouth (Rivalry). I don't think running the Table will as easy of a task as you may think but We are capable.
Wheelersburg - 22 Playoff appearances, 1 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Jonathan Alder- 11 Playoff appearances, 1 State Runner up
Ashland, KY---- 2 State Championships, 1 State Runner up, deep Playoff run last year
-----------------with alot of starters back.
Russell, KY------2 State Championships, 1 State Runner up, had a young Team last
-----------------year and should be much improved this year.
Portsmouth-----(Rival) with a better than average chance at making a run at the SEOAL
-----------------Title and a run at the Playoffs this year.

Re: Ironton week 9 filled???
Sometimes you just have to schedule who is available, regardless of size or how strong the program is. That is especially true your first season in a different league affiliation than the previous season.
I hope that Ironton and NY play each other again in the future. NY didn't have a non-league opening in Week 9 with the new TVC Ohio schedule, but maybe sometime in the near future, the two teams can play sometime in the first half of the season.

Glad to see Ironton get a game to complete the schedule and this one could get them a lot of computer points if F-banks can post seven wins again.

Now scheduling wussy teams, Canadians, etc. For shame on the river !!
Fairbanks was 9-1 in 2007; 8-2 in 2008; and 7-3 in 2009. But the REAL stat is , Logan was 29-1 in the last 3 regular seasons.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. with only 2 , yes 2 playoff wins in three seasons. For shame on the Chiefettes.

Tigerbait is QUITE right...Ashland has FAR more state championships than two!
They have nine regionals, 20 district and 11 state championships

Re: Ironton week 9 filled???
i thought that was incorrect, i've been seeing that scoreboard every other year for nearly 50 years. back in the day. alot of the guys that played on ashland's team , were actual armco steel employees. have you ever heard that. thats what i've heard all my life.

Re: Ironton week 9 filled???
I was told by a friend that the state records on the score board are for ALL sports...they have won to state titles, and two A.P.Titles, according to him?

Re: Ironton week 9 filled???
That only goes back to 1959 unless I missed something. Ashland claims state titles in football in 1928, 1929, 1930, 1931, 1932, 1935, 1942, 1958, 1967, 1975, and 1990; and regional titles in 1958, 1967, 1972, 1975, 1976, 1980, 1982, 1988, and 1990. That info comes directly from the front cover of the official game program for the Ironton at Ashland game Sept. 21, 2001; I don't know if they have any state or regional titles after that. And I did notice that the list shows Ashland losing the state title game in 1975 so I don't know what the story is on that one.OHbuckeye1 wrote:biggdowgg wrote:I was told by a friend that the state records on the score board are for ALL sports...they have won to state titles, and two A.P.Titles, according to him?

Maybe it's true, but it makes no sense to me that they would put ALL state titles on the football scoreboard.
And I think 2009 was not one of their many deep playoff runs. I think Dixie Heights demolished Ashland at Putnam Stadium in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Re: Ironton week 9 filled???
To bad every school don't have a great web site like Irontonfootball.com, sure would make things easier to look up
I see they lost the 75 State Championship also, to ST Xavier 20-0, the link below shows them losing that game too.

Re: Ironton week 9 filled???
The 1975 Ashland team, whom featured a great defense, won the Kentucky at large championship in 1975. Back in that day there used to be crowned a Louisville 4-A champion and an at large champion. I believe the two would square off one week later for the overall outright champ.
The 1975 Ironton and Ashland game, might have been the hardest hitting game I ever watched.
