My coaches always told me to act as if you've been there before...in whatever sport or endeavor. After scoring a touchdown in football, a player should simply hand the ball back to the referee and let your game speak for itself.

When Portsmouth goes to the Final Four again (and Portsmouth will go to the Final Four again), then Portsmouth will not ask what other teams did at home while Portsmouth was in Columbus.

That being said...what do you think about this picture? Nice, isn't it?

...and before you say it....

...like the Phoenix, Portsmouth shall rise from its ashes...and bring the trophy home again...someday

I love how people use comparative scores to determine who's better...Because Team A won by 50 and Team B won by 10 that must mean Team A is better than team B....sounds like college football and the BCS...In other words....because South Webster beat Portsmouth by 7....and Portsmouth beat Waverly by 17...that means South Webster should beat Waverly...how'd that turn out???? That's why they play the game!!!! And if the standard is making it to the final four, Portsmouth has lapped the field...I'm trying to think how many State Championships does Chesapeake have???? How many does Ironton have??? And if Coach Lafon is so much better of a coach than Eugene Collins...why is it that my memory tells me that the record between the two is tied 1-1....Maybe Carter is better....I don't think that he is, but I do know that Andrew is the best point guard in the southeastern ohio, period point blank....and he does it on both ends of the court.

Good for Portsmouth that you won a state title three decades ago. Everyone cheer for Portsmouth and all of their success and how it at all relates to anything to date.

Like I said earlier, I believe Ironton will win this game by 10+. Zac Carter will be the best player on the floor (and that someone is trying to argue that is hilarious to me), Bendolph is a nice player and nothing more, Dion and Fletcher will be a fun matchup, and Mark is a far superior coach (two regional appearances---how many does your coach have again?).

You can brag and boast all you want about beating Chesapeake a year ago, like it is relevant to anything, and I will hang onto the fact that when it really matters, Portsmouth melts. Good for you that you beat Chesapeake a year ago, too bad for you when the tournament rolled around you choked.

I really hate saying these things because I really like Wayne and Dion, two great players and great kids, but some of you fans get a sniff of success and its, oh well we are back, and we will go to the state tournament soon. Blah blah blah.

I am comparing a 50+ point blowout and a 6 point win for Portsmouth over a similar opponent, its done everyday to compare teams. I am not talking a difference of a few points, I am talking a difference of 50, so please don't insult my intelligence.

anyways, Ironton still by 10+

keep poking a pittbull in the face and thinking you won't get bit.

You have added nothing constructive to this debate aside from we beat you last year and we won a state title 20-30 years ago. Good for you. South Webster won one a few years back, so I guess they are the most successful basketball program as of right now. Oak Hill won one two years back, they must be a juggernaut presently.

If we rank the most successful programs in the past 10-20 years are you even in the conversation? Hell, Fairland has a final four appearnce in the last 20 years, can you say that?

Now back to the actual subject, Ironton v Portsmouth, who Portsmouth must be better then because despite the fact that Ironton played for a state title 5-6 years ago, Portsmouth has a state title and sutomatically makes them a better program, and guess what, Portsmouth wins based on that fact.

yes we had a tough time with Gallia...so did Warren?....

doesnt matter who has the best PLAYER on the floor,it is who has the better TEAM on the floor on that given night.

not sure, but im guesing from your very first post, that you did not even know Andrew Bendolph was on the Portsmouth team, seeing how you did ot mention him,and said Evans is a good second, and if he was ouronly guard he would turn the ball over several times?

anway,I expect nothng but a good game of basketball, unless one team lets their guard down ,,,,,

I had heard he was out for Portsmouth, did not know when he would be back. I like the kid, but he is an above average high school player, nothing to get excited about imo.

doggie, are you bringing your regular crew or do you have some extra folks coming with you?????

The reason I am asking is the Sheriff ask me to find out so he can have plenty of security on hand plus he needs to know how many cells he should reserve at Motel 6 down on 5th Street......?????

I have bail money so you wont need to bring extra cash.......

you seem to "like" all our kids , but have nothing good to say about any of them...mama always said, if you dont have anything GOOD to say why say anything??

I have watched Andrew play sice he was in jr high,,and I think he is one of the top players in seo...and I think he is very much worth getting exited about, if you dont like him or the rest of them, just stick with posting about who,and what you do like, because if you come on another teams thread and start talking about how they are not that good, you will get a response, no matter what team it is you are talking about.

now, back to THE GAME.

same crew Turke, only addition may be FIDOS dad,I have invited him to ride along if he wants to...and as long as you have bail money we are good

you start this crap all over the board, if you go on a thread and tell fans how bad their "kids" are, you have to expect some folks to get bent out of shape?

this game can go either way IMO, should be a dandy to watch, and only 2 days away now.

by the way,I dont think winning or losing this game will make or break the season for them, it will be good for them both to play against the compitition they will face.

Crap?

I have an opinion much like you, and you seem to follow me around trying to get me removed because I called someone a punk because THEY were saying negative things about a kid and I asked them by pm to edit their post and they refused. I have been here for a while, and I don't post much anymore, so I don't get your point or why you have a question mark at the end of your statement.

If Portsmouth proves me wrong I'll eat crow, not really that big of a deal, its an internet chat board. I have said it several times now, it really is not a big deal, this is an internet chat forum, if I am worng it won't be the first time. I don't take it very serious and either should you.

I have given an objective view of why I think Ironton is better, if I had Ironton in my name you wouldn't be saying a word, but because a Chesapeake person has something to say about Portsmouth I have no credibility, ok whatever. I would venture to guess that 90% of the people on this board don't see every team in their top 8, yet they make comments on them, you going to go hound them too?

I basically only comment on Norm, Chesapeake, and Ironton threads, and 99% of the time they are positive, so....I spend most of my time on the college board so I think you are reaching a bit my friend. I have said far more postive things about all of the players mentioned, and saying that someone is an above average high school player really isn't an insult. Try reading between the lines a bit, hope that's not to complex for you.

Best of luck to both teams.

Portsmouth seems to be turning on the heat now that Bendolph is back in the lineup. This should be a great game.... if Underwood and McKinley stay out of foul trouble I will take the Trojans in a 6pt upset.
