Re: Talkin' Bucs 2012
I haven't weighed in on here lately but have been faithfully watching the Buccos.
Now is the time to start making some hay.
After May 31 last year the Bucs had a record of 25-28 and were 6.5 games out of first and in 4th place.
After May 31 this year the Bucs had a record of 25-25 and were 3 games out of first and in 3rd place.
Going into this weekend series with the Reds the Bucs are 27-26, 3 games back and in 2nd place.
We had an great June last year and carried that into the All-Star break. We got into first place by taking it 1 game at a time and 1 series at a time and by winning, not sweeping, our series with the other teams. Sweeps are nice but if we can continue to win series like we did vs Milwaukee, we can slowly get our heads above 500 and stay there.
I'm not talking pennants or playoffs as our bats are lacking, i'm talking about having a winning season and building for next season via the free agent market by going after a few good young bats instead of tired vets and having the hope that we can get another year or 2 out of them.
The month of June could be a very exciting time for us Pirate fans but we need help and runs. Our pitching will not carry us to a winning record and should not be expected to.
Look for the Pirates to move a few arms before the trading deadline in exchange for some bats as the organization is loaded with pitching talent and has too many starters at this point in time. One can only hope that we get some good hitters via the trades.
As always...
LETS GO BUCS!!!
