As bucknuts said..It was a very good high school game. It is a shame so many of these good teams will knock each other out early in the tournament. I had total shots 25-15 in favor of Chillicothe with a 13-9 advantage on goal. As with many teams this time of the year there were some injuries both teams were dealing with. Waverly was without their starting centerback and arguably the best in the district in Willie Bevens. Also starting striker Nick Bradley went down in the 1st 10 minutes and was unable to return the rest of the match. The wind played a major factor in the match as it was much tougher to move against it. In my opinion the deciding factor of the match was Waverly's ability to defend during the 1st half and manage the game by holding off the attack and breaking on counters as they were against the wind. Purpero and White both played outstanding up top for the Tigers and were a handful every time they touched the ball.
Hopefully both teams can get healthy and be 100% come tournaments.

i picked a 2-2 draw knowing it would be a close one. Congrats to the Tigers on the Big Win.

Stating the circumstances and the details of the game is not offering excuses, it only seeks to inform the readers and offer insight into the game. This is especially good for fans who did not actually see the game.
Also, we have all seen enough soccer (and other games) to know that the better team does not always win. A team is better on a given day, that is just the way it is.... Waverly was deserving because they were better making the most of the opportunities they had. They did what they needed to do to win and I really enjoyed the game. It was a great high school game.
Waverly was on the negative side in every statistical category you can track except for the all-important one, and that is goals scored. They deserved to win on this day, no one is arguing this point.
Were they the better team? Not necessarily...Did they get the win? Yes
