1st Coal Grove 2nd SP Chesapeake tie 4th Fairland 5th RH. Problem is I only look for Coal Grove to finish with a winning overall record.

With the influx of students/affluent families moving into the fairland school district, Its hard to see them having too big a drop off...However, I think the coaching changes could possibly catch up to them, especially against well-coached teams such as Coal Grove. Peake has a very brutal schedule, I feel they could go either way. If they lose a few players, they may finish 4th, if they survive, then they could contend. After talking to some coaches, the belief is that they are a year away, but will be better. Not sure about South Point. Great turnaround, but they have a terribly easy non-conference schedule. Wonder how that will effect Ovc play? Rock Hill most likely be down.

1. Coal Grove
2. South Point
3. Peake
4. Fairland
5. Rock Hill

2-4 is a toss-up

OVC Previews

Post by 2trap_4ever »

August 16th will be here before we know it, and the lineup for this years previews looks to be really good.

Chesapeake vs. Rock Hill
South Point vs. Portsmouth
Fairland vs. Ironton
Coal Grove vs. Portsmouth West

I believe I have them in correct order but that will be out there at a later date.

I know West and Ironton have scrimmage the last few years. I would guess that the scrimmage between the 2 teams have been called off now.

Maybe not. The previews would be the jamboree. You can still have 2 additional scrimmages.

This is cool the way they're doing this.

The way I heard this game is going to be in place of the Ironton scrimmage. They also have a scrimmage with Johnson Central.

West was added because there was an odd number of teams. I wonder if they will get a differnent team to fill the gap every year or keep West.

Johnson Central. If you want to see where your at that will surely give you an idea. They are always tough.

Rock Hill will be majorly improved this year, but not enough to move above 5. I also just can't see CG being good enough this year to take first place.

The new, true fun will be when Portsmouth and Ironton join. :]

Didn't Rock Hill play a few OVC teams very close last year? I wouldn't be surprised to see them win a game or two this year in the conference. I also don't think Coal Grove lost much at all from last year's squad, so they should be the odds on favorites.

They beat River Valley last year, but they aren't in the OVC anymore. Also, South Point was just a little to close for comfort for them, the score was 45-36. Fairland who was consistently scoring in the 50's and 60's, only got 27 on Rock Hill.

I do believe Rock Hill is better than most people think, they just aren't strong enough to finish what they started.
