I pesonally like Auburn but don't like the SEC. I hope for the sake of college football that the Ducks take it.

I am not that impressed with Cam Newton. Call me a homer, but I would take T Pryor over him. He has missed wide open receivers and is not making the highlight plays we were all expecting.
But it is still in the first half too!

After watching Cam and Auburn now: Does anyone out there really think that Pryor couldn't put up the same numbers in that offense? Guys running wide open, and when they aren't open, he misses and sometimes badly.
Honestly, considering schemes, Pryor is a better passer. Newton is a better runner, mostly because he is more physical.
Also, Masoli has to be wondering what could have been. He is much better than this current QB.

I cant believe the refs are not throwing Auburn players out of the game for some of these cheap shots.
Unreal. Only for the SEC.

Pryor makes more plays with his arm that starts with his feet than Cam does. Pryor has a nack for turning busted plays into big yardage. Cam doesnt throw the ball with near as much accuracy as Pryor.

It seems like this game is on ESEC instead of ESPN because they are doing a lot of talking about the SEC and Auburn. Not to much on Oregon or the Pac 10. Even though at this point it is 19 to 11. Also having 2 SEC coaches on pregame and halftime.

Re: national title game who wins.
I just watched a game the other night where they ruled a runner down "by rule" because his wrist was down while contact was being made. Why wasn't the same thing called in this situation? His wrist was obviously down on the play. I'm pretty sure it was a college game I was watching.gahs4ever wrote:What a wierd ending to an otherwise great game.
This will forever become the poster child for emphasizing that you play to the whistle. Even the ball carrier thought the play was over as did the Oregon kids, but no whistle had sounded.
Smart call by the Auburn coach running the clock down after Oregon did him the favor of using their timeout.

My wife doesn't even watch a lot of football but she said the same thing all night long and she even got a little angry about it. They were a Big Ten crew you know !!!!!
Re: national title game who wins.
This was a close low scoring game that many never thought would happen. Oregon took cha.nces on 4th downs and the extra point. Coming up short on 4th down on the goal line without any points hurt. Auburn started slow and then made plays at the end to win the game.
At the end of the game seen something that I can't say I have seen before. When the coaches met and were talking at the end of the game Cam Newton had to get involved in the conversation.

Re: national title game who wins.
I saw 2 or 3 times in the game that Cam should have been able to stiff arm a defender and get away and then a couple times that Pryor would have easily out quicked the d lineman and had the opportunity to make something out of nothing. The reason I say this is because TP did it easily last year to some of the same guys along that Ducks front. Cam runs more physical inside for sure but outside Pryor is a much better runner and alot quicker. TP also has a much better stiff arm. As for the passing..............yeah neither is a great passer so I would call that a push. The Ducks were no better than they were last year and I have said that all year long, especially at the QB spot.
It was a good game but I would love to see the NCAA take a stand against all the nonsense that goes on in SEC/WWE football. Problem last night was, the kids don't know any better and have done the same stuff all year and by the end of the first qtr we would have seen 10 personal foul/unsportsmanlike penalties called and really taken away from what was a highly contested game.
Playoff or not, the two teams that were the best all year played last night and the one team that was proven to be above the rest all year won the game so I say the BCS got it right and the best team is the champ. I hate the "any given day" scenario......... if a team wins on "any given day", does that make them the best team or better team or just got the right calls, got lucky, or maybe made less mistakes that day. IMO Wisky couldn't have beaten either team last night consistantly and TCU would have been murdered by either team last night, the Bucks were not at that elite level this year in the back end of the d, Oklahoma is well alot worse in BCS games than tOSU, and nobody else was even close to that level other than maybe Alabama this year and they lost thier chance by blowing it against lesser teams.

A kid from Arkansas was subject to the wrist rule in the sugar bowl.

Alot like last years rose bowl, oregons offense was pretty well dominated by defense and taken out of their element. Neither team looked all that great last night but that could be credited to having over 30 days off. Newton wasn't very sharp last night and was a little out of sync. He made some nice plays and missed some easy opportunities too. Darron Thomas never really could get into a good rhythm.
I don't think Chip Kelley called a very good game. He continually tried to run the ball up the middle and those misidirection dive and counter plays and Auburns d line wasn't having it. What success they did have was on the outside. They were stopped on 4th goal and had to settle for a FG after being 1st and goal. I really thought Kelley would open things up more so than ever and throw the playbook at Auburn. The use of timeouts wasnt the greatest either

Re: national title game who wins.
As SVD pointed out, it happened in the OSU/Arkansas game on a play almost identical to this one. The player rolled over the defender and his knees never touched, but they reviewed it and he was ruled down "by rule" because his wrist was down on the ground while contact was made. Evidently the crew last night didn't know the rule.gahs4ever wrote:"down" is determined by how many and what body parts make contact with the ground when. Ive never heard of a wrist as being one of them but Ive been wrong before. And finally, since this was subject to booth review, apparently the wrist rule must not be right.
Im wondering if a booth review can overturn a play in which there was no whistle. Apparently so.
