Re: Minford 2008
That's the truth. Just look at Coal Grove. They typically have been big and strong, but they have also been slow and out of shape. It's great to be strong, but you have to know how to use it.[/quote]
Very true. However, I think that Coal Grove is going to be very talented this year and I know alot of their boys have been hitting the weight room hard this year.
I think they have the ability to be one of the very best schools in southern Ohio this year, so Minford had better be ready.

Ah, they were supposed to whoop our butts the past two years. I think Minford will run by em for a third year. But we have 3 other games before the Hornets come back to town.

CG should be good and they have a tough backfield returning. You all are right, there are 3 games before this one and Minford better be ready for all of them. CG will be a big challenge for the Falcons. Take them lightly and it will be a mistake.
Re: Minford 2008
Minford did go 11-2 in 1985. Lost to CAPE 41-0 in the state semi-finals and they lost to West 8-7. The Falcons beat Wheelersburg that year 28-21 (OT) in what may have been the greatest win in Minford football history. The regional final win against Crooksville at Fulton Field in Lancaster that season is close though. Minford won 18-13 in the mud to go to the State Final Four.

You consider a 28-21 OT victory against the BURG one of the best falcon wins ever? That was before my time so I cant judge i guess
Re: Minford 2008
Taking into account that win was the first one over Burg in 20 some years. Burg had an undefeated SOC record for god knows how long and I do believe Minford were 2 touchdown underdogs. Id say it was a pretty big victory.
Re: Minford 2008
the burg only had a 1 game soc win streak going into that minford game. west beat them the yr before. Snuffing Smith still brings up the 85 minford-burg game whenever he starts talking about the best games he has seen in this area.

I have read this ,and Im glad to see that Minford has already beat Wellston. If you think Wellston will be the same as last year ,thats good for Wellston.

Well, apparently you haven't read this all, everyone from Minford has said that there are 3 games before the Falcons have to worry about coal grove coming to town. I would say wellston will be better than last year, they couldn't get much worse.

No couldnt get worse, thats for sure . Wellston will be competitive this year im sure of it. Most mention of Wellston on this tread has been a easy win for the Falcons.

Wish I could of seen it for myself
Re: Minford 2008
I have seen it on video tape and its a very good game. Very heated match up, I have been told that there was a scuffle before the game when Minford was in their stretching burg ran through the lines. whether this was true or not i dont know. Thats the past lets get to the present and talk about the Falcons of '08

I hope my college games dont interfere with my ability to come watch this seasons game
Re: Minford 2008
yes there was a pregame scuffle, pretty much a prelude for what was to come,I would have to say that was the best high school footballgame i have seen in this neck of the woods,i would go out on a limb and say that ed miller as great as he was may have blew that game with 2 questional 4th down calls around midfield with the lead that got stuffed.
