Ironton wins this one, heath will hit the brick wall this week and find out how football is really played.

"not saying this as a Ironton fan" though through the recent years they have earned and deserve the respect

Still deciding between this game and the AC game

now that everybody is done makin fun of ole bait, just know. i'm unflappable. i tell it like it is. and dang proud to do so. the post saying they have more than 1500 seats on the home side is a down right lie. i talked to someone who gave me the facts, there is 1100, on the visitors side. if i have to put a fishin chair on the sidelines , i'll be there. and everybody keeps bringing up travel, again, not the issue. i'm quite sure nelsonville york will be excellent hosts, i love their football tradition, and the enthusiasm of their fans. so if you are done talking about it, let it rest.

ironton is playing some amazing football right now. and gonna be a very hard out. but they are not taking anybody for granted, the posts doing that are forthe most part, not ironton posters. we been doing this a long time. we know they get better the farther you go. we'll show up. we'll play the entire game, and be dang proud of our boys win er lose. ---------NUFF SAID.

No it is not a joke. NC has won more high school football playoff games than anyother Ohio high school. That puts them above Ironton.
I do not have the complete list of all time Ohio high school playoff wins in front of me but I am very sure that there are plenty of teams in between NC and Ironton.
Ironton has a very successful high school football program and there are many schools that do not measure up to their success. NC is not one of them.

ironton is 3rd, in high school football playoff expereiences. behind newark catholic, and stuebenville i believe. i don't know who's knocking newark catholic, but it ain't me. our feat is especially amazing as we are a public school.

Ironton is making it's 27th appearance. That is the 3rd most in the state..Ironton's 27 State Playoff Appearances Is The Third Most In State. Ironton Trails Only First Place Newark Catholic And Cincinnati Moeller!

Newark Catholic (who are idle this season, by the way) has 30 and Cincinnati Moeller is making it's 28th. No one would diss these two schools, who would Ironton's either?

It's all on Ironton Football Dot Com Bait, you'd be best to trust it than memory...

Since the playoffs began, The Fighting Tigers only have failed to finish in the top eight 3 times ever! These were 2 -10th place finishes and 1 - 14th.

should catholic/ other private schools even be in the same state competition as public schools? it seems like catholic schools win a disproportionate number of state titles in every sport, maybe they should compete against each other instead of picking on schools that cant recruit

I went to a public school.

Recruitment I would love to see proof of this.

Open enrollment is allowed and that is legal recruitment.

He speaks the truth.

For years, I've been hearing about a new Catholic school possibly being formed in South Point, it would be drawing kids from Ironton, Ashland, Huntington and the surrounding community. Could you imagine had this been started years ago? I don't know if it will but..it would be a force to be reckoned with!

Was watching a high school football show last night from the Cleveland area...on Menter Lake Catholic...the qb was a really good athlete...and so was the receiver...after the game they interviewed the QB..and he said it was his first year at the school as was too the receiver...that they were both transfers...kinda sickened me...

I've been reading these posts about Ironton for the past few days. You have a great tradition and that is obvious with your 27 playoff appearances. As I read these I started to think we (Heath) probably would be coming to Nelsonville to face a powerhouse team and probably be going home on the losing side. Your fans posting had me convinced we probably couldnt match up with your team. Well last night I sat down and watched tape of your team playing nelsonville york earlier this year. Ironton won the game pretty easily. After watching this tape there is no doubt in my mind Heath can win this game! We will match up well with you. You are a good team no doubt but the film didnt lie. You have weaknesses just like Heath does! The team who wins the turnover battle will win this game. I hope your team does take us lightly and looks ahead to amanda or coshocton because I think the Bulldogs are gonna surprise you Ironton fans!! Best of luck to both teams on an injury free game!!!

Bob Lutz does not over look any team..trust me..these fans on here might...but Coach Lutz will never do that..Game film on Heath will be playing non-stop in the locker room all week. The players are not over looking this team..It's one game at a time for them and the coaching staff...Go Tigers.

My point about Licking Valley and Newark Catholic is to make a point that Heath has faced tradition and when Heath lost to LV and NC it was because those 2 teams were better. If Ironton wins...it's because they have the better team. Heath has beaten NC a few times and it was because Heath happen to have the better players ...they did not have to overcome the tradition. By the way...I think Ironton wins by a score of 35-14 only because I think that Ironton has the better team.
About the catholic school recruitment. I think it's a bigger issue in the larger cities in the state....the same way that open enrollment in the larger city public schools. Schools like Ironton and Heath have to play with the cards dealt to them. I'm a Newark fan and when the Wildcats won the state title in basketball 2 years ago I felt like I died and went to heaven. It's so hard for a city that has limited resources to compete with the large catholic schools, but Newark did it ! They may never do it again...but they did it once. I love when a public school can take out a large Catholic power. Licking valley did it about 5 yrs ago on back to back weeks. First Dayton Chaminade and the next week it was Kettering Alter. No matter the outcome.... I would still hope that the Tigers can take out Alter, if the chance arises. Let's have a great hard hitting, clean game w/o injuries !

ironton won't be looking past anyone, i think we got that out of our system, against ashland, with a game the following week with logan. we forgot to hold on to the football. and it also cost us the logan game , turnovers. since then , we have handled the rock, and taken care of business. so we are not in the least concerned right now, with coshocton, who has all ready been on here, saying when we play them, we'll understand what real football, and real running backs are, pul-eeze. even our fans know better. if you beat us, you'll have earned it, nor are we concerned with amanda clearcreek. see , we don't play either of those teams this week. we play heath. and i hope the big cats , claw the dogs a new rearend. if not, we've been beat before. we can take it. :-D
