For you statistical buffs:

Wheelersburg = Division V 170 boys
Jackson = Division III 306 boys

Wheelersburg School District = 16 square miles
Jackson City School District = 180 square miles

Wheelersburg School District = 10.6 boys per square mile
Jackson City School District = 1.7 boys per square mile

Considering boys who live close enough to the schools to actually have the opportunity to play sports, Wheelersburg is much bigger than Jackson. Thus Wheelersburg had 60 kids dressed while Jackson had only 47.

Numbers don't lie.
Your theory is interesting, but most kids have transportation these days. Burg dresses freshman that won't play. That's why they had more numbers. To me it's not an excuse as to why they got beat, because at the end of the day it's 11 on 11. But to say Jackson doesn't have more kids to look at is incorrect.

And to cg-ironton, burg beat the tigers in yards, plays, and score. You keep saying how 2qtrs were even, well at the end of those 2qtrs, burg was leading. 21 does not equal 16. If the tigers bear Jackson this year I'll give them credit but right now the burg owns the past two years.

In order to be an impact player, they have to start playing long before they have a license. Many kids in the district don't have the opportunity to compete in interscholastic athletics.
My point is that in rural school districts enrollment numbers aren't an accurate indicator.
2004 DII Jackson played DII Cincinnati Withrow in the playoffs. Jackson had 43 kids on their sideline while Withrow had 105.
Fact is Wheelersburg is a solid program with tradition as is Jackson. It was a significant win as to playoff points.
Far better to take the first level points hit and gain the second level points than to beat a poor DIII team.

I agree on that part, however Jackson still has a town with business. A team like northwest would be a better example or perhaps vinton county

Congrats Jackson Ironmen. That defense is stout. Wheelersburg schedules games against bigger schools to get better and maybe pick up some computer points. I doesn't hurt a team to get knocked down a peg so they can see that there are things that need to be worked on. The only goal that's been affected is the undefeated one. All the rest are there: win the SOC, qualify for the playoffs, win a playoff game, win the region, win a state playoff game, win the state championship. Those goals all remain and can be achieved. As far as some of the Wheelersburg fans being upset about the celebrating by the Ironmen after the game. It is a compliment to the Wheelersburg program. I would say that Jackson probably doesn't celebrate like that after every win. Those kids and fans were very proud to beat one of the better programs in SE Ohio.
Good luck the rest of the way Jackson. *I will be an Ironton fan when you play them however. :)
Time to refocus Pirates and get back on task. GO BURG.

I guess it's time for ol' Jolly P to eat some crow. Jackson absolutely controlled the game and play Ironman ball. Burg was simply out coached in almost ever aspect of the game.
Special teams is the only thing that Burg had going for them. Play calling was an obvious downfall for The Burg but my hat's off to the Ironmen, The Coaches and the fans. The stadium was absolutely electric. I thought the outcome would have been much different.

There will be a lot of things taken from this game by Burg. They have to get more diverse in play calling. I can't blame the kids for that. They played tough the whole game. On 2 4th and 1 play calls they ran away from the unbalanced line where they have 3 kids topping 250lbs. Defensive adjustments weren't made. They left the middle wide open the entire game. Why not stack 9 in the box and make them throw???? I was dumbfounded by that one.

I love it!!!! When their pushing around a weak team like Fairland these Homers say great execusion, great play calling...Burgs so athletic....Our Coaches are the best...Then they get their arses handed to them it's Bad play calling , poor Coaching bla bla bla ...Maybe it's just you never were as good as you thought you were...Maybe Jacksons better.....There's a reason the play calling didn't work...Jackson was better...whole lot better......

First off it is (execuTion). 2nd it's easy to call plays against a team like Fairland. You could call Madden plays and win. What I am saying everytime we get into a hyped game the OC chokes. Like he has something to prove. Larry Hall discussed how scared Jackson was of the pass and what does the OC do? Run the ball of course. Like I said before, 2 times on 4th and 1 you run the ball away from 3 250+ lb lineman to a weak side? Why? Not saying it would have completely changed the game but one does wonder. Every time Burg threw the ball they started a drive. Get I side the 25 and start running. Hahaha. Ignorance.

Lmao....Get I side the 25 (inSide)......Seems you have the same problem of leaving out letters son!!! it is (it's) ..... I may be ignorant but I'm not arrogant like a big percentage of you Burgers.... I intended to hit a nerve with my statement which was the truth.... Lay down, lick your wounds, and stop making excuses about the Coaches play calling ......Jackson thumped Burg in every way possible....TD!!!!!!!!! It's OVA!!!!!!!!!! I'm actually embarrassed that you would throw your coach under the bus after taking such a beat down! lol..... It's not like it was a 14-13 knockdown drag out where you could blame the game on a coaches decision......This was an old fashion arse whopping!!!!! Lose with class not excuses......Monday Morning Quarterbacking at its best.....Jacksons my HERO!!!!!!! lol

:122246 Let me know how that work's out for you. BTW, from what I know, which ain't much, if Burg woulda kept throwin that odd shaped ball them woulda scored more than 27 points. That may be an excuse but it is true.

That is what this site is known for! :122249 Yep a good ol fashioned arse whopping is right. Lose with class is right. But from here on out, I don't see the Burg losing anymore. And they should make a run deep into the playoffs. This will only make Burg better.
