I would guess not any better or probably worst, if you could get the players out to play under you guys. LOL Its really hilarious reading the excuses you guys are pushing. over and over and over, year after year after year. The overall talent level is not there, period
You are correct. There have been more talented burg teams in the past. But yet the last three seasons they have taken what they’ve had and turned into two regional runner ups and 2 SOC crowns. As a fan, I’ll take it.

You give burg Terry last night, they win. He’s a difference maker. He’s going to Missouri for crying out loud.

And if burg should meet Ironton in playoffs they will have to hope to do a better job containing him to have a shot.

Also the reason burg was trying to pass because Ironton began to load the box. I don’t disagree with why, I just wouldn’t have. I would have went heavy and went with power the entire game and try to find a running lanes.
Exactly!! Would have pulled out the 2022 game plan that was brilliant. Actually gave Burg a fighting chance in a game where they were outmanned.
I think a lot of Burg people were too down on that 2022 squad. Remember, they had Harvest Prep on the ropes in Regional Semis before giving it up in 4th quarter and losing by 4 pts.

In hindsight, Jones was a lot better QB than the Burg fans gave him credit for. And I don’t see many Arthurs or Lattimores on this current squad either.*

Ironton didn't either until they brought it in. Didn't the QB come from Ashland? Terry came from Portsmouth West and I know he did because had a juvenile court person in scioto county tell me he got pulled over as a 16 year when he lived there and Number 0 came from Huntington.

Burg needs to figure out a way to get these skilled kids to come to Burg. Curious as to how Ironton is doing it because it sure isn't those scholarships. Are any of those kids from the last few years, Perkins, Keyes and Felder and any others still even in school???
Are you asking if Schreck came from Ashland? If you are, I will bet literally any amount of money you can muster (which I’m assuming isn’t much) that he did not.

Yeah don’t know where that one coming from. I watched Schreck play QB for Ironton in junior high and remember being impressed by him.*

dang! just think of that soc reffing crew wouldn’t haveve kept it close in first half? that’s a 50-0
game and you owe those guys something
So officials are hired by the conferences? Does the OVC have their own officials. I don't think it works that way.

Fun fact (for Ironton fans, at least): Ironton’s Kayden Edwards now has 4 career punt returns for touchdowns at Ed Miller Stadium. As a sophomore.

Don’t know if Edwards will still be back there returning punts in 2026, but if so and if I’m Burg, I would probably just send it out of bounds.*

Question, How will you guys react if Burg goes 5-5 or even ends up 6-5 or 7-5 . That seems reality this year! I’ll say it again after game 1 , Burg Coaches gotta be loving you guys, is it to late to add you guys to the staff.

Some on this board act as if Burg coaching is beyond reproach. If they perform badly, they deserve criticism. If they keep performing badly, I doubt the Burg admin will take it well. I’ve seen successful basketball coaches at Burg get “retired” for not maintaining on court performance.

LOl, you make my point, Im sure the Coachs loves your input. As one poster from Burg posted until Burg can get some recruits to go along with the current students in school system, No one including you can do better than current Coachs. If talent is not there you either recruit or go with students than has been in school system thru out there school years. Hence the 7-3 or 6-4 seasons. Your posts are really kinda downgrading Wheelersburg in my eyes. Let it go and enjoy high school football with a 6-4 regular season. Reality! Waverly will not be guaranteed win either. OakHill ,Northwest,Minford Valley,West are wins ,Waverly50/50, my opinion. Facts are 0-1 as of now, my opinion is 0-2after week 2 I understand thats your opinions but saying it over and over a thousand times is? Look at Ironton, kids that have went to Ironton there entire life is being replaced by players that are better, so these Ironton players either sit the bench or not play at all or just go to another sport. Another solution take Ironton , Jackson, Harvest Prep off schedule and get your 10-0 or 9-1 seasons then if thats what you desire in a record. If you upgrade schedule this is what you get.

Say you don’t understand Wheelersburg without saying you don’t understand Wheelersburg!

If the coaches at Burg cannot do better than others who have never coached, that is a big problem!! Wouldn’t your employer consider that an issue if someone untrained with no experience can perform your job as well as you?

Having D1 athletes all over the field has never been Burg’s reason for success. Sure, they’ve had really good athletes but never like Ironton and Jackson in football. What made Burg successful is winning despite not having the same talent. And that type of success starts with coaching and culture (same as we see in the MAC schools, Kirtland, Hilliard under White, etc).

Talent to compete: I wasn’t predicting Burg to win this game; expected Ironton to win comfortably. I was simply looking for improvement on offense which I didn’t see. Of course IHS had a role in that, but Burg’s O has looked bad for over three years now, and their style of offense has been a problem against the better teams for over a decade. This is not a short term trend, and it has even shown up in games against teams where Burg had the talent advantage. Burg D continues to be the strength and plays like one would expect from a Burg coaches team but need to get O to that level.

Finally, I am not the only one from Burg who thinks this way. Others aren’t as vocal or are in positions where they can’t be so open. I know all the coaches from Burg and like them personally, but they need to correct the offense because doing the same thing year after year after year is not going to change the results. If I were advising them directly, I would highly encourage them to take a trip to a MAC school (like Pendleton and IHS coaches did), go to Kirtland and study how they do it, or better yet, see if they can get Brian White’s services as a consultant. His approach to Hilliard Davidson is exactly what Burg should replicate; that’s a program that won and competed against the top programs in the state despite having a massive talent disadvantage.
