Boilermaker remember this when Jackson kicks your butt all over the field your outlook for season always seems to change you pick them every year to win the T.V.C. yet that never happens you pick them every year to beat Jackson yet it only happens every twenty five years or so please tell us what is different about this year.

Well let me say this. Defence wins Meigs has no D" so NY will win TVC Ohio. Mike Chancey
are two words that don't go together. Mike has never and will never have a good defence.
They will put up some points this year, but sad to say will get run over by Nelsonvile's Arnold boy. He is good, saw him win the game at NY last year.

any nelsonville poster on hear who thinks i have bashed nelsonville needs a wake up call. they are good every year. let's not go there.
and yes meigs could have been better on defence the last couple of years. but bashing a coach who just took his school to the play offs for the first time and at least showed up against the eventual state runners up ( sorry ironton), is just plain ignorant.
what is said was let's not talk about what we gonna do, lets talk about what we done. the past 3-4 years meigs and nelsonville games have went to the wire who else in the tvc can say that.
if athens wants to talk, and boy DO they, then they need to DO. so far i have heard them in every sport and only in baseball where they even close to being good.
my standard is do it then talk nelsonville has DONE it. and so has meigs at ;east in football.here's an idea look how long the coach stays. if it is only 2-3 years then shut up. i believe chancey and boston pass that test.
athens, you want to bash someone pick a team you can consistantly beat like your jv's
btw the athens jv's are their varsity

I know you wouldn't bash NY. You have never said anything negitive about NY. I did say that Athens and Meigs would battle it out for 2nd place though. Athens lost there star player in Tope but I have a Nephew on that team and so I know that they will be a much improved team through conversations with him. You can look for athens to throw the ball more and be more agressive on D. I am not sure what Wellston will do this year, but I don't think there will be a hole lot of improvement record wise from Alex, VC, and Belpre this year. I don't think there will be as many blowouts in league play this year for any team. I predict a lot of close games.

fasteach yes meigs made the playoffs Great. but over the past few years if Meigs would have had a well coached Defence they could have not only won the TVC but ,made to playoffs a couple off times. Hey I am a Meigs Grad, and it breaks my heart not seeing
us do well. We have had some really good teams, but very little to show for it. How many
years have we gone 5-0 , 4-1 non league. get to league play end up 7-3, 6-4 etc.

WHY DEFENCE ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

First Flash-Goat,. I will always say these things about Wellston .In my eyes Wellston first everybody else last, and Vinton County lower than that!
Fasteach, You need to back up a little ,Wellston terrible in football.Until 2007 Meigs was on a 10 game lossing streak to Wellston.
I give Meigs credit ,they should be the team to beat this year . They have a good offensive football team, NY will be solid on both sides of the ball as usual .The Arnold kid is outstanding.Wellston has a pretty good back in Prater(ask Athens, the only game last year he was featured in)Wellston is going to be good upfront this year which is usually their weakest link. The Rockets wont have any trouble scoring on anyone in the TVC .They have the same questions Meigs has ,can they stop anyone when they have to.I am not going to leave Athens out of the mix, they should be good this year, but I think they are a year away from being a real good team. The rest of the league is pretty much even with the Vikings pulling up the rear.

I guess we will eventually find out soon enough .

GO ROCKETS!!!!!

boiler i feel for wellston
jackson lures away the football talent and vinton along with oakhill the basketball
and yes wellston used to have meigs' number in football frankly wellston is between a rock and a hard place sports wise and i would not dream of acting like i have an answer because frankly i do not. belpre has the same problem with warren, marietta and parkersburg. wheren't both in the play offs only a few years ago?
i just an ticked at fans from schools for advancing athens when frankly they haven't done anything YET! they might but not yet. i have seen athens play meigs in football for 10 years and frankly meigs usually cleans their clock. if they beat meigs then they can talk until then be happy beating alexander.

I'm saying most teams have a chance and even tho I am confident NY will win it again, they haven't exactly been "running away" from teams that they should be soundly... I watched that video of the kid from Meigs on YouTube. Not a bad talent is he back this year?

Look they did pretty good last year considering there record over the last 20 years. They have a good coach and some good seniors this year. They earned some respect last year and you should give it to them. There JV and freshman teams did really well so look out. If every one else down your way has the same attitude about Athens then you have a good shot at getting beat by them. I am not saying that NY and meigs will fall apart. I am saying that they could be pretty good this yaer. They will win 5 games maybe 6. :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245

i am not down on antbody. it is just i was in sports and the 1 rule in sports is "don't talk about it until you do it". athens might do it but they haven't yet. 2 years ago belpre came out of nowhere to be really tough, athens could be next. if they are THEN they can talk. i am originally from gallipolis. when i was in school athens and us had a real rivarly. infact athens cleaned us more than a few times.
but that was 30 years ago.
my hop is that a team from the tvc goes to the play-offs and goes deep. i will inspire kids to play. i hope it is meigs but if not then someone.
i worry about athens because a few years ago at a jv game there where more kids playing than fans watching. now how do you build a program when the parents do not even come out to watch their own kids play? it had to be embarrasing for athens' coaches to to see meigs fans out number theirs 4 to 1 at a home game even if it was jv. you can't build a program in a few years without any community support. how long has it been since ny has had a home game that was not sold out? meigs maybe has the worst field in the tvc and still sells out even jv games. in order for a program to care people not close to the kids has to care. that is not when 25 people show up to watch a jv game. this program had a train wreck at some point in the past, i do not know when, and still suffers. the kids need community support especially when you consider athens is far and away the biggest most urban school in the tvc. there are more home fans at alexander games and i can't remember when they had a good team.
again i am not down on anybody. we tell kids to commit to a team or a sport and then we don't even go watch them play? kids quickly get the idea of what is important to their parents. when athens changes, i will stop raggin' them util they do...

There fan base is getting bigger every game now. Athens didn't just get a new coach. They are in the process of changing there hole culture surrounding football. Athens has a lot of support from there comminity and parents. Evan students are starting to show up to there games.
Don't worry about AHS worry about Meigs.
Just for you I'll change mt prediction. OK! Athens will finish dead last. They suck they will just do horrable. Evan Alex will beat them by 40 or more. Don't get me started on how bad they will do against NY and Meigs. They will beat Athens by 60 or 70 points.

Is that how I should talk about them????? Should I keep telling lies?
Athens will be a good team no matter how you would like people to talk about them.
