I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS WATCHED WE GOT BEAT IN EVERY ASPECT OF THE GAME. BUT I WILL SAY THIS FOR THE FIGHTING TIGERS THEY ARE NOT AFRAID TO SCHEDULE ANYBODY THAT WANTS TO PLAY.

Did I "run my mouth" about my opinion of the call. Please tell me what my opinion of the call was?tigersportsfan wrote:Well alot of people don't agree with the call. Just because the call was made, doesn't mean that it was the right call. Anyone that knows Tres knows that he's not like that. I town 90 you must be two faced if you stood and talked to his dad and didn't voice your opinion then. But you can get on here and run your mouth. He does need to answer for his calls. He made a call that cost a good player and a good kid two games of his senior year. Our coaches, Ad and boys didn't understand either. And it did make a big difference in this game.
I simply stated the FACTS. The ref made the call. I didn't see it. Evidently you didn't either. Paul Wilkes told me what Tres told him. Did I state anywhere that Tres did or did not throw a punch? I think not. I stated what I was told, and what happened. The REF has NO OBLIGATION what so ever to announce to the PA announce what the call was. Where in the world would you think that he has to. He threw the flag and made the call. I do not know if Tres threw a punch or not, all I know is his dad said Tres told him he didn't. But, either way, when the REF makes a call, it STANDS. The REF explained the situation to Lutz. Now, what did Lutz do? Absolutely NOTHING. He didn't argue. What does that tell you? Again, the REF doesn't have to answer the Rick McKnight. And he didn't. What do you not understand about the facts?
Also, please give me my opinion of the call.
And, please do not embarrass the Ironton fans by claiming that Tres "made a big difference". Are we better with Tres, sure? Would we have won the game if he didn't get ejected. HELL NO. We were handed our butts tonight on the line of scrimmage.

didn't say that we would have won either way. But when anyone of your key players get thrown out, it throws the team off. But yes the outcome could have been much different. I wasn't talking about your opinion of the call. but the fact that you think that the ref doesn't need to explain his call. Lutz didn't argue because what's there to argue? The ref wasn't going to change his call. But I know for a fact that lutz didn't believe it was the right call.

Instances like this make me miss Paul Houston more and more every game I attend or every incident I hear of Ironton's PA announcer.IRONFALCON wrote:The ref got word to the pressbox via coaches headsets that the annoucer would be tossed if he said anything else.

You stated that I was two-faced. Please explain why?tigersportsfan wrote:didn't say that we would have won either way. But when anyone of your key players get thrown out, it throws the team off. I simply stated the facts. All of the posts are there for us to reread. I am glad you are now realizing that it doesn't change things to argue the call. The Call is the Call. I can't believe you think the Ref owes it to the PA announcer and the fans to explain himself. The REF explained himself to the only person that he needed to and the only person he is obligated to and that was BOB LUTZ. Not you, not me, and not Rick McKnight. We are irrelevant. The REF made the call and told Lutz what the call was. End of story. He does not "have to by rule", "need to", "want to", or any other irrelevant reason that you may wish, explain himself. Good call or bad, it doesn't matter either way. Punch or no punch. It doesn't matter. The REF does not answer to you, me or Rick. What is hard to understand about that. He could have done exactly as the Minford fan explained and tossed Rick out of the facility, or you, or me, or Lutz for that matter. And he wouldn't have to explain that to either of us either.
You seemed to be speaking out of both sides of your mouth. Did it make a big difference or not to have lost Wilkes? You state "didn't say that we would have won either way" and then all of thirteen words later you say "But yes the outcome could have been much different." So which way do you want it, because you can't have it both ways. Either the outcome was going to be "way different", or it wasn't. Again, please do not embarrass us, we got outplayed tonight. Tres can't block, tackle, and score eleven men on every play. We were beat 38-14.

isn't alder a D4 team just like ironton ? what's to be afraid of......?You're Tiger Bait wrote:I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS WATCHED WE GOT BEAT IN EVERY ASPECT OF THE GAME. BUT I WILL SAY THIS FOR THE FIGHTING TIGERS THEY ARE NOT AFRAID TO SCHEDULE ANYBODY THAT WANTS TO PLAY.
Re: Plain City Jonathon Alder (4-1) @ Ironton (5-0)
The refs were awful, no doubt about it. They just didn't have control of the game. Late whistles, not enough personal fouls called, etc. However, as bait and others have said, Alder is a darn good football team. They can run over top of you or throw it over top of you. Ironton didn't do itself any favors either - shot itself in the foot many times. This Alder bunch lost to Clinton-Massie, who many consider to be the 2nd-best team in DIV, by a single point. This team plays in the toughest Region in D4 and holds it's own every year. This was Ironton's first taste of someone who wasn't a paper-weight pretender. Ironton will get a shot at some redemption later on against what looks to be a solid Hartley team who took Elyria Catholic into OT.

I think it is pretty funny that a lot of Ironton haters are WANTING Ironton fans to make excuses so they can stir the pot.
Glad to see nearly every Ironton person be the better man and state the obvious, they got beat. Congrats Alder!!
That said, Iroton is STILL the best team in SOUTHEAST Ohio in 2010. playing a team the caliber of Alder will make them better come playoff time. I'd rather go into the playoffs at 9-1 or even 8-2 rather than 10-0.
Tigers, you got plenty of 2nd level points tonight with Chilli downing D2 Marietta and Gallia downing D2 Logan.
And yes Ironton, please do something about your PA announcer. He is a disgrace to the program in both football and basketball. He needs to go back to being the guy who spells out T-I-G-E-R-S and leave it at that.

I WARNED YOU TIGER FANS... PIONEER FREIGHT TRAIN!!!!!
Great game.. awesome high school football enviroment.. Loved how close the vistor side is to the field and players.
Alder showed it's strength's right a way with a big drive to open game and controlled the pit's the rest of the way.
360 ish yards for Alder .. 160ish for Ironton. To many weapons for Alder.. Just all over the field..
How about the KICKER!!!
Don't complain about getting homered at home.. those refs were puuuuuuu.. Watched them move the back up/back on
each numerious times.. crappy spots. and wierd calls. Sideline warning to Alder, YET LUTZ is at MIDFIELD for 2 minutes.
course it his is field..

I-town-90...we've read your posts and none really give any credit to the Alder players. In your opinion you've seen a better QB, better running back bla, bla, bla. Let me ask you, pal what does that say about your team since it was MANHANDLED tonight by a team that doesn't have really any good players in your opinion?
Your announcer....what a hoot! We Alder fans thought it was the funniest announcing we had ever heard especially when he asked the ref for an explanation on a penalty over the PA. When did Larry the Cable Guy move to your area?
Fantom penalty....another hoot! The young man got caught punching an Alder player. That's a no, no. What comes around goes around. The tables were turned, boys. Alder played more physical. End of story.
My spies from southern Ohio and one being from the Ironton area predicted an Alder win. Remember our first team was taken out with 3 minutes left in the game and we were marching. There was nothing else to prove. We all know it could have VERY EASILY been 45-14.
We wish the Ironton fans and team nothing but the best the rest of the season. Good luck and go Alder.

i think this gives the tigers more fuel. theres no conference this year but there is the playoffs and a possible rematch. with the schedule they have this year its verry physical schedule. i dont see them doing nothing except work now and come out even stronger. good luck tigers on the rest of the season.i wasnt at the game but alder must be a great team.
Re: Plain City Jonathon Alder (4-1) @ Ironton (5-0)
good luck to the tigers the rest of the season! regroup and bring home the w next week!!
Re: Plain City Jonathon Alder (4-1) @ Ironton (5-0)
Ironton's PA announcer has to be the most embarassing part of Ironton's great football program and their tradition, but asking an official to explain himself or a call is way over the line, he should have been escorted from the stadium and yes I for one would love to see him replaced, there is no room for his arrogance within Ironton Tiger Sports period.

I gave my opinion. I said the QB is a good passer, not great. We have faced QB's that have been drafted by the NFL. That is not a slam on your QB, he is just not as good as at least 10 others we have faced over the years, al la Nate Davis or his brother Jose from Bellaire. We have seen many better running backs, ones that have played in the NFL, like Carlos Snow and Arliss Beach. Your #27 was a solid back, but not OUTSTANDING.bad breath wrote:I-town-90...we've read your posts and none really give any credit to the Alder players. I gave the O-line much credit. They were big, very physical, and could move. The 6'6" 325lb kid was not just big but good. I also gave your defense props. I said the D-line could run, and the LB's were very active. I also mentioned that I liked the coaching, he had them well prepared and coached a good game. I like his offense which is similar to the one I ran in college. I didn't mention the kicker at all, and maybe should have. He is REALLY GOOD. He is one of the top 3 I have seen. That includess the kid from Chilli last year that received a scholarship to OSU, and Pettrey that played for State and was drafted. Your kicker is very good and if he is just a Soph, he is VERY VERY good.
I never mentioned a "fantom" penalty.
I agree with you 100%, we were MANHANDLED. What does that say about us, well it says that at this point in the season, we were not as good as Alder, which to me is a GOOD playoff team, but not a State Champ. Obviously Clinton Massie is better because they beat you, and they may not be the best Team in D4 either. So, that puts Alder no better than the 3rd best team in D4 and Ironton, at least no better than 4th, and most likely worse than that. Alder is better than Ironton. I never said Alder didn't have any good players. You have quite a few Good player, but I didn't see Great players at the skill positions, that's all. I mentioned several strong points of your football team, but I also do not want to crown you guys KING. I never said we are better either, we were outplayed.
Now, Lutz is beyond outstanding, so do not be surprised if we see you again in the playoffs and beat you. It will take a mistake free game and some turnovers, but with Lutz, it could happen I promise. Do I want to play you 10 times in a row, NO WAY. Could Lutz put together a game plan and with a bounce here or there we come out with a Win, well I have see him beat teams that he had no business beating before.
I have plenty of Props for Alder, you played well, physical, had good team speed, great size and the boys weren't FAT, they were BIG, Gang Tackled, hit hard, came off the ball, well coached, good passer, solid runner, OUTSTANDING Kicker. Does that make you feel better? Congrats to Alder.

I heard most of our fans complaining all night about Alder's piling on late tackles and dirty play. I disagree completely. My friend and I, both former Ironton players, loved the agression and grit that the entire Alder team played with. They really wanted to show what Alder football was all about and they completed their mission. Congratulations on a great football game and good luck the rest of the way. Now let's go get Jackson!

Re: Plain City Jonathon Alder (4-1) @ Ironton (5-0)
I think the point is Ironton mentally beleives in fair play from all sides. when that doesn't happen, well, things can go sour.biggdowgg wrote:so you are saying the refs won this game?
we had a ref from Ironton do our game tonight, so whats that got to do with anything?
If the Ref's let things get out of hand, then they get out of hand, and the problem is ref's will usually call retaliation until they catch sight of the originator doing it.
At least the team that wins the first bout usually don't win the second time... Let's just hope there is still the chance of a second time.
