I've watched a lot of Ironton football over the past 30 years and to say this team is "special" is a bit much for me. While I do agree this team is VERY selfless, plays as a COMPLETE team and has lots of HEART, talent wise, they are decent. I have no doubt any Ironton team from the late 70's to the mid-90's would beat this team by three touchdowns(at least). I'm saying that to tell you what perspective I see this team in. I'm not trying get down on this team but I have trouble putting an Ironton team that lost to Ashland on too high of a pedestal. I guess I just get tired of hearing Ironton fans get on here and talk about how bad we could beat so and so. We sound like all the fans of teams that used to say "if Ironton was on our schedule this year we would beat them". Like whoever it was that said they saw Amanda CC and wasn't impressed and that Ironton would beat them by 3 td's??? Well, you know what, I'm sure if an Amanda CC fan saw us play Ashland this year they wouldn't be too impressed with us either. Maybe CC had a bad game that night?? Anyway, I guess my point is that we should let our play on the field do the talking. I'm all up for some schedule and personnel debate, but maybe we shouldn't talk about who we could beat next week until this week is over. With all that being said, boys, I hope you prove me wrong. Go Tigers!!

I am in agreement with this post. I probably rate Ironton higher than you, but believe some fans over hype them. Most of us probably do that to our school of choice. When I saw Ironton play, I thought the strength of that team is the line. They are well coached and fundamentally sound. I think they will run into a team that is as well coached and has more talent. I am not a 'professional' scout, I am just a fan with limited knowledge.

carmenohio what you said really ticks me off. If you truely was an Ironton fan, You would know that Ironton just had a really bad game against Ashland and given any other day should and would have beat them. I was there as I have been every game and maybe it was the coaching that shouldn't have allowed the same mistake to be repeated over and over. Not to mention that we had Zack hurt in that game. along with a few others. But it is in the past as is the Logan game in which we had Wilks out in the first with a hip pointer and zack still out. So if your not a true fan Stay at Home. Because our boys are just that BOYS and don't need you talking down on them.

That week the majority of the starters had the flu and didn't practice...we I believe had four kids healthy in the game...to down the kids for that game...wow...I know what Ironton has...just talking to the majority of the starters a minute ago...they are fired up...what a great group of kids...they have the attitude to win the state this year..and the smarts...and the physical ability...now we need just a little bit of luck going our way...as does any team when it gets to this level...Go Tigers...

Apparently you didn't read my post very closely. I wasn't talking down about the boys, I was talking about some of our fans that are so quick to praise our team and even quicker to show no respect to present or future opponents. The only thing that I said that was even close to negative about our boys is that I didn't think we were quite as talented as many of our fans seem to think. It just seems like every year after we win a few games I hear certain fans talk about going undefeated. I heard it after we beat Russell this year, RUSSELL!! Are you kidding me!?! I wasn't saying that we didn't have some issues during the Ashland game, I said if an Amanda fan had seen that game they probably wouldn't have been too impressed. Good luck tonight boys, unfotunately I won't make it to the game, I don't know if I will get out of The Shoe in time! Safe travels to all! Go Tigers!!

Boy thats gonna anger of lot of people, but I respect you for being honest...I hope Ironton can get this one, I our area needs them to do well and get back on track

maybe you didn't read your post before you submitted it. I do agree with one part of it. This team is selfless, plays as a complete team and does have alot of heart. But you should have left it at that. go tigers!

ALMOST GAME TIME
On the radio on WIRO 1230 AM
On the net: http://www.foxsports1230.com/pages/scores.html
Click beside the TIGER face down in the middle of the page.

It's been a gorgeous day here in ironton. My thermometer got up to 73 and reads 53 right now. WIRO is carrying the OSU-Iowa game which has gone into OT. They'll cu away to the Ironton game probably about 6:45. I'm startins a separate thread for UPDATES so this one will be open for commentary.
